Special notice to pastors, secretaries and all diocesan-affiliated administrators
The federal Form I-9, which is required to be completed for all new hires, has been revised. The revised form must be in use no later than Sept. 18, 2017. Copies for download can be found by visiting and clicking the I-9 tab, or by contacting directly. 

Priest spiritual directors are invited to retreat
The Committee for Spiritual Life & Priestly Ministry of the Diocese of Allentown invites priests who serve as spiritual directors to a day of reflection at the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth in Wernersville, Pa. The program, titled “The Spirit in My Heart: A Day of Reflection for Diocesan Priest Spiritual Directors,” will be held Sept. 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For full details and a registration link, go to More details are available in the attached flier.

Free ‘Take Me to Worship’ signs available
Erie County pastors who were unable to attend the “Take Me to Worship” press conference on Aug. 15 are still able to receive two free signs and five car decals. These free signs, however, are not personalized with a parish name. RCIA virtual workshops available
The Office of Worship reminds clergy and RCIA teams that a series of virtual workshops is now available for all involved in the RCIA ministry. Please see the attached flier that describes the series. The workshops were prepared by the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC) in collaboration with Liturgy Training Publications (LTP).

Women invited to join St. Mark Seminary Auxiliary
St. Mark Seminary Auxiliary extends an invitation to Catholic women interested in spiritually and financially supporting St. Mark Seminary in Erie. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the St. Mark Seminary Chapel. The evening includes Mass and a meeting, with refreshments and an opportunity to meet the seminarians. The Auxiliary has one fundraising event per year: the annual card party in April. Dues are $5 per year or $25 per lifetime membership. National Day of Remembrance event scheduled in Erie
All are invited to attend the fifth annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children event at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5711 West Lake Road, Erie, on Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. The remembrance will be held, rain or shine, at the Knights of Columbus memorial in the infants section at the west end of the cemetery.

Annual pig roast to benefit Clarion County parish, church
An annual pig roast will be held at St. Nicholas Church, 3028 Shannondale Road, Mayport, Sept. 9 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit St. Charles Parish, New Bethlehem, and its secondary mission church of St. Nicholas. Tickets are $15 and include the meal, drinks and chances on two $500 cash prizes. Only 300 tickets will be sold.

Campout brings families together
The Chastity Education Office of the Diocese of Erie is hosting a weekend campout Sept. 15-17 at Custaloga Town in Carlton, Pa. Mass will be celebrated Sunday 1 p.m. To learn more about this free weekend that will rejuvenate and reconnect your family, visit

24-part Bible series scheduled in Sharon
St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Sharon is sponsoring “The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation,” a 24-part study that will take participants on a journey through the entire Bible. Session I begins Sept. 26 and will run every Tuesday through Nov.14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 370 Spruce Ave., Sharon.
