Mileage reimbursement change
Beginning on Jan. 1, 2018, the mileage reimbursement rate for all diocesan and ministry travel will be 54.5 cents per mile, up 1 cent from 53.5 cents for 2017. Please pay at this new rate and update any expense reports, hard copy or EXCEL, as necessary.

Register now for Diocesan Study Week
The annual Diocesan Study Week will be held Jan. 8-11, 2018, at St. Mark Catholic Center, 429 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie. The presenter will be Father Paul Turner, rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, Mo., and director of the Office of Divine Worship for the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. Program will address the problem of human trafficking
Sisters of St. Joseph and the Crime Victim Center in Erie are collaborating to present an informational program on human trafficking on Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Gathering Room at the Sisters of St. Joseph Community Living Center, 5031 West Ridge Road, Erie. The program will provide an overview of human trafficking activity throughout our country and in Erie County, and will include an opportunity for discussion. The evening will end with a prayer service for the end of human trafficking in our world, our country and our community. Pancake breakfast scheduled at Sacred Heart in Erie
The Knights of Columbus Council #11818 at Sacred Heart Parish, W. 26th and Liberty streets, Erie, will hold a pancake breakfast Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon to benefit the Father Engel Education Grants and the parish religious education program. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit, juice, coffee, tea and hot cocoa. The cost is $5 for a regular serving, $3.50 for a junior serving, and free for kids ages 4 and under. Tickets are available after Mass and at the door.

‘Inherit the Wind’ to be presented at Mercyhurst Prep
The Mercyhurst Prep Performing Arts Department presents “Inherit the Wind” Jan. 18-20 at 7 p.m., and Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. in the MPS Performing Arts Center, 538 East Grandview Blvd., Erie. “Inherit The Wind” is a fictionalized account of the Scopes Monkey Trial. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for students, and will be sold at the door.

Designer Bag Bingo in Bradford
St. Bernard Parish in Bradford will host its first annual Designer Bag Bingo on Feb. 11 at the St. Bernard School gymnasium. See the attachment for more details.

Mercyhurst University invites girls to Sports Day
Join Mercyhurst University as it celebrates the 2018 National Girls & Women in Sports Day on Jan. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center, located on Mercyhurst’s E. 38th Street campus in Erie. Girls in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to participate in activity stations with university female sports teams, receive giveaways, learn about nutrition for active bodies, a light lunch, and watch a women’s basketball game. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Formation Course
All are welcome to participate in a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Formation Course, scheduled next summer at St. Marys Parish Center in St. Marys. The course is presented in retreat style during separate weeks from June through August. See the attached flier for more details.

The Catholic Foundation of Northwest PA is seeking an operations manager accountable for the integrity and efficiency of day-to-day operations. This position will be responsible for donation/donor database management, select donor relations projects and flow of information among organizations with which the Foundation serves and collaborates; assists the executive director with Foundation board management.

Required qualifications include:

  • B.S. in IT or IT-related field preferred
  • At least three years of experience working with foundation and/or nonprofit organization data management system
  • Working knowledge of fundraising practices
