Invitation to Parish Office Staff Formation Day
An invitation to a Parish Office Staff Formation Day on March 15 at St. Mark Catholic Center in Erie was recently sent to parish staff throughout the diocese (see attachment). The purpose of the day is to acquaint participants with the workings of some of the diocesan offices and with the people heading those offices. It will address the importance of the parish receptionist and some of the challenges and opportunities involved with that position.

Calling all camp lovers!
Are you ready to be part of a dedicated camp team? The Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry is now accepting applications for Team Totus Tuus, a small group of dedicated high school and college students and adult volunteers who will be part of Camp Totus Tuus for middle school students this July 15-18 in Linesville. 

Applicants must be able to commit to pre-camp training July 13-15, as well as to the duration of camp week. Along with the online application, a reference letter from either a pastor or high school chaplain must be mailed or emailed to the Youth Office. Mail letters to: Diocese of Erie, Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, 429 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16504, or email jdurney@ErieRCD.org. The office will work with everyone to ensure that child protection clearances are properly obtained. Spots on the team are limited. All applicants will be considered through a discernment process. Lenten Vesper Service scheduled Wednesdays in DuBois
A Lenten Vesper Service including prayer, song, Scripture and a featured speaker will be held Sundays during Lent from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, DuBois. The schedule and featured speakers are:

  • Feb. 18—Msgr. Edward Lohse, vicar general
  • Feb. 25—Erie Bishop Lawrence Persico
  • March 4—The Rev. Kevin Bockus, director of pastoral care at Penn Highlands, DuBois
  • March 11—Mercy Sister Tina Geiger, co-director of Catholic Rural Ministry in Venango County
  • March 18—Pastor John Miller, Christ Lutheran Church, DuBois.

Lamentations in Polish offered during Lent
Gorzkie Zale (Lamentations), in Polish, will be sung at St. Casimir Church, 629 Hess Ave., every Wednesday of Lent (Feb. 21 to March 28) at 7 p.m.

St. Andrew Parish to offer pancake breakfast
An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be served by the St. Andrew Parish Knights of Columbus at the Msgr. Gannon Auditorium at St. Andrew Church, W. 6th and Raspberry streets, Erie, on March 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 4 to 12, and free to kids under 4. The cost for individual immediate families is $20.

Full-time multi-media journalist needed
The Communications Office of the Diocese of Erie seeks to hire a multi-media journalist to handle its digital presence. The person in this newly created position will work on platforms ranging from Facebook and Twitter to Instagram. Ability to cover news events and write features for online and print. Significant involvement with diocesan website, www.ErieRCD.org, which will relaunch this spring. Also responsible for writing, producing and editing weekly video stories prepared for social media. May have on-camera presence, if appropriate. The candidate will demonstrate strong communications skills and ability to interact with many diocesan departments. Some evening and weekend assignments, and some travel within the 13 counties of northwest Pennsylvania required.
