Lenten Action for Dreamers:
Your voice needed for today’s congressional call-in campaign
The Office of Social Justice and Life urges you to participate in the Call-In Day to Congress today, Feb. 26, sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Your advocacy is critical to help the nearly 1.8 million Dreamers, young people who were brought into the United States by their parents as children. They may face deportation as soon as March 6, unless Congress reaches a bi-partisan deal to protect them.

Visit http://www.ErieRCD.org/daca.htm for a simple step-by-step process for calling your congressional representatives by supplying your zip code. Talking points also are available on the site.

Additional information about the Dreamers and other opportunities to voice your support are available at http://www.justiceforimmigrants.org. Thank you for taking action on behalf of our immigrant sisters and brothers, who are among the vulnerable in our society.

Confessors needed for 24 Hours for the Lord
On March 9-10, the Diocese of Erie will celebrate 24 Hours for the Lord, an initiative of our Holy Father with an emphasis on adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the sacrament of reconciliation. St. Peter Cathedral, Erie, will be open for the whole 24 hours, with adoration and confession available during that time.

Priests in the greater Erie area are asked to consider taking at least an hour to hear confessions at St. Peter Cathedral during the 24 Hours for the Lord. Confessions will begin on March 9 at 5:45 p.m., and continue until March 10 at 3:30 p.m.

Please contact Sister Kathleen Dietz, FSO, at kdietz@ErieRCD.org or 814-824-1135 to sign up to hear confessions or if you have any questions.

Attention, parish office staff
There are just 10 days left to sign up for the Parish Office Staff Formation Day on March 15 at St. Mark Catholic Center in Erie (see the attached invitation). The purpose of the day is to acquaint participants with the workings of some of the diocesan offices and with the people heading those offices. It will address the importance of the parish receptionist and some of the challenges and opportunities involved with that position. Parish staff are asked to RSVP by emailing kdietz@ErieRCD.org or by calling 814-824-1130. Please note that in the email address given on the mailed invitation the k was inadvertently left out. For further questions, contact Sister Kathleen Dietz, FSO, at the above email or phone number.
