2019 special collection schedule
Pastors and administrators will find attached the 2019 special collection schedule for the Diocese of Erie. Please use this schedule when ordering collection envelopes for your parish(es). Feel free to contact the Chancery at 814-824-1135 with any questions.

Clarification of Feb. 11 Northern Vicariate Mass at St. Peter Cathedral
Bishop Lawrence Persico invites members of the parishes in the Northern Vicariate of the Diocese of Erie to join him at St. Peter Cathedral, W. 10th and Sassafras streets, Erie, for 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Feb. 11. The Mass is in celebration of the 125th year of worship at the cathedral, the mother church of the diocese. There will be a guided tour of the church, including the crypt, immediately following the Mass. Social time will include coffee and donuts.

Publisher Showcase this March
Representatives from Loyola Press, Our Sunday Visitor, Pflaum Publishing, RCL/Benziger, and Sadlier Publishing will present current family-centered and adult faith formation resources at the Publisher Showcase March 13-15 at various locations in the Diocese of Erie. Religious education leaders, pastors, catechists and others who work in religious education ministry are encouraged to attend. Lenten dinners scheduled throughout diocese
Attached is a listing of special Lenten dinners being held throughout the Diocese of Erie beginning Feb. 16.

Seasonal liturgy preparation aids
See the attached document for liturgy preparation aids for Lent, the Triduum and Easter Time. You will find included a Lenten Reconciliation Rite and Evening Prayer for Easter Sunday. Please contact the Office of Worship at 814-824-1270 with any questions.

Spiritual formation for liturgical ministers
Dan Schutte, nationally known musician and composer, will offer a morning of reflection for diocesan liturgical ministers on March 10 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 837 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek. All liturgical ministers are invited to participate. Pastors are asked to encourage their ministers to attend. See the attached flier for further information.

Women invited to Lenten program
All women 18 and older are invited to join the Women of Grace study program, “Full of Grace: Women and the Abundant Life,” developed by EWTN’s Johnette Benkovic and presented by St. Joseph Parish, 147 W. 24th St., and St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 2806 W. 6th St., both in Erie. Be strengthened for holiness and find God’s purpose and mission for you in the world today. A morning group will start Feb. 14, meeting for nine Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Parish Community Center (second floor). An evening group will start Feb. 15 and meet for nine Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Founder’s Room at St. Jude the Apostle Parish. Warren parish to host Hard as Nails Ministry

Villa Maria Academy sponsoring Box Village
Villa Maria Academy's Interact Service Club is sponsoring a Box Village Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. through Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. Students will be set up in front of VMA, 2403 W. 8th St., Erie, collecting donations for Erie Dawn. Please support this project to raise awareness of homelessness in Erie.

Executive leadership position available with PCC
The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference (PCC) is the public affairs agency of the eight Latin Rite and two Eastern Rite Catholic dioceses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Located in Harrisburg, PCC currently employs a professional staff of eight individuals who are under the leadership and supervision of an executive director.

Due to the impending retirement of its present executive director, PCC is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to assume that position.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in theology, political science, public policy or a closely related field. A graduate level or law degree is preferred. Experience working as a lobbyist or equivalent legislative and public policy experience is essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate a knowledge of and fidelity to the mission of the Catholic Church and its public policy positions.
