Important human resource notice to all parishes and affiliates
There has been a change to the I-9 form that must be used for all new hires after Jan. 22, 2017. This is a federally mandated revision that applies to all employers. Please pass this notice along to anyone in your operation who handles the hiring process. A copy of the new form can be downloaded at http://www.ErieRCD.org/hr.htm. Scroll to the section under “Hiring Process Tips” and click on the I-9 form.¬†

Newly assigned pastors and current pastors may sign up for CSA meetings
It’s not too late for newly assigned pastors and current pastors to sign up for the Catholic Services Appeal “kick-off” meetings/dinners with Bishop Lawrence Persico. All are invited to attend at the location that is most convenient. Meetings begin at 4 p.m., with dinner served at about 4:45 p.m. The first meeting will be held on Jan. 23 at Sacred Heart Church in St. Marys; the second will be on Jan. 24 at St. Mark Catholic Center, Erie; the last meeting will be on Jan. 25 at Good Shepherd Church in West Middlesex. If you are able to attend, call Bill Grant in the Office of Stewardship and Annual Appeals at 814-824-1192.

USCCB releases latest ‘Life Issues Forum’
The Pro-Life Secretariat of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has released the attached “Life Issues Forum” for January.

Pre-Cana cancelled for Feb. 18-19
Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in West Middlesex has cancelled the Pre-Cana scheduled for Feb. 18-19. Please make note of this change on any pre-printed copies of the marriage preparation schedules for 2017. For questions, call 814-824-1261 or email familylife@ErieRCD.org.

‘The Miracle Worker’ to be performed at Mercyhurst
The Mercyhurst Preparatory School Performing Arts Department presents
“The Miracle Worker,” Jan. 19-21 at 7 p.m., and Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults; $7 for seniors; and $5 for students. Tickets will be sold at the door, 538 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie.

St. Joseph School to hold open house
St. Joseph School, 608 Pennsylvania Ave., Warren, is holding an open house Jan. 29 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tour the school, see children’s work, talk to faculty, and receive registration paperwork. Tuition assistance and scholarships are available.

Applications accepted for Divine Mercy Encounter
Divine Mercy Encounter is inviting applications for its retreat program Feb. 10-12. The retreat will be held at St. Joseph Church, 147 W. 24th St., Erie. Anyone 16 years of age or older is welcome to apply. To find more information or to apply online, go to www.divinemercyencounter.com.

Pancake breakfast planned in Mount Jewett
St. Joseph Church, 20 Division St., Mount Jewett, will host its annual spring pancake breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults; $3 for children 12 and under.

Seven-week ‘Discovering Christ’ event scheduled in Meadville
The Catholic Community of Meadville is hosting a seven-week series, titled “Discovering Christ,” scheduled Sundays from Feb. 12 to April 2 at St. Mary of Grace Parish Center,1085 Water St., Meadville. Each evening begins at 6 p.m., with dinner included. Besides dinner, there will be teaching and small-group discussion on the meaning of life in Jesus Christ.
