Diocese of Erie changes mileage reimbursement rate
The mileage reimbursement rate in the Diocese of Erie has changed for 2017. Effective as of Jan. 1, 2017, the mileage rate will slightly decrease from 54 cents per mile to 53.5 cents per mile for all ministry-related mileage. This is based on the new IRS allowable rate. Schools and parishes are advised to make note of the change for any future reimbursement requests.

2017 Help Spread the Faith Collection
Pastors and administrators will find attached Bishop Lawrence Persico’s letter introducing the 2017 Help Spread the Faith Collection in support of the Catholic Church’s communications efforts. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way on the weekend of Jan. 14-15.

Mark your calendars for 24 Hours for the Lord
24 Hours for the Lord will be held again this year at St. Peter Cathedral, W. 10th and Sassafras streets, Erie. The 24 hours of adoration and confession will begin after the 5:15 p.m. Mass on Friday, March 17, and conclude with the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday, March 18. Confessors are needed for all 24 hours. Youth groups, prayer groups and others are encouraged to consider signing up for an hour of adoration. More information will be forthcoming at the end of January. Is your parish or school having a Lenten dinner?
To advertise parish or school Lenten dinners in the “Lenten Offerings” feature in the Feb. 19 edition of FaithLife newspaper, contact Advertising Manager Brenda Williams at 814-824-1161 or 1-800-374-3723, ext. 161, or email bwilliams@ErieRCD.org. Space must be reserved by Jan. 27. Provide the date(s), time, place and cost for the dinner and, if needed, a phone number for questions. The cost is $35 per listing. This is a great resource for those looking for meatless dinners during Lent.

2017 confirmation schedule now available
Please review the guidelines packet and schedule for confirmations in 2017 at the Office of Worship webpage: http://www.ErieRCD.org/liturgy.htm. Due to parish reconfigurations occurring in February, please check the schedule carefully for the name of each church preparing candidates for confirmation. Barnes & Noble welcomes all educators to Educator Appreciation Days
Pre-K through 12th-grade teachers, administrators and school system professionals in the Diocese of Erie can save 25 percent on purchases during Educator Appreciation Days Jan. 7-15 at Barnes & Noble, 5909 Peach St., Erie. Register today for Diocesan Study Week
See the attached flier for information on Diocesan Study Week, which runs Jan. 9-12. There is still time to register. The theme for the week is “Embracing Transitions in Parish Ministry Today.” Father Anthony Ciorra, vice president for Mission and Catholic Identity at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn., is the guest presenter. The event flier, mail-in registration form and an online registration form also can be found at http://www.ErieRCD.org/religiouseducation.html. Online registration is preferred.

CDSG Divorce Ministry scheduled in February 
St. Luke Parish in Erie and the Family Life Office are pleased to announce another 12-week session of The Catholic’s Divorce Survival Guide (CDSG, Divorce Ministry), scheduled every Wednesday from Feb. 1 through April 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (no meeting on April 12 due to Holy Week) at the library of St. Luke School, 421 E. 38th St., Erie. This ministry is for men and women who have suffered the pain of divorce or separation and are interested in support during the healing process. The program features 30-minute DVD presentations each week covering such topics as shock, denial, anger, forgiveness, the courts, kids, and more. Whether someone was divorced 10 days ago or 10 years ago, this program offers valuable insight for all.
