2018 Help Spread the Faith Collection
Pastors and administrators will find attached Bishop Lawrence Persico’s letter introducing the 2018 Help Spread the Faith Collection for Catholic Communications. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way on the weekend of Jan. 20-21.

Western Vicariate parishes invited to St. Peter Cathedral
Bishop Lawrence Persico invites members of the parishes in the Western Vicariate of the Diocese of Erie to join him at St. Peter Cathedral, W. 10th and Sassafras streets, Erie, for 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Feb. 11, in celebration of the 125th year of worship at the cathedral, the mother church of the diocese. Guided tours of the church, including the crypt, will immediately follow Mass. Social time will include coffee and donuts.

To advertise parish or school Lenten dinners in the “Lenten Offerings” feature in the Feb. 4 edition of FaithLife newspaper, contact Brenda Williams, advertising manager, at 814-824-1161 or 1-800-374-3723, ext. 161, or email bwilliams@ErieRCD.org. Space must be reserved by Jan. 20. Provide the date(s), time, place and cost for the dinner and, if needed, a phone number for questions. The cost is $35 per listing. This is a great resource for those looking for meatless dinners during Lent.

Deadline approaching to complete wellness initiative
Full-time employees covered by the Diocese of Erie’s health insurance program have only 11 days (Jan. 19, 2018) to complete the wellness initiative. There are three simple steps: 1) Complete the online wellness profile; 2) Get a wellness exam and enter the date into your Highmark account; 3) Set any goal with a health coach (call Blues on Call on the back of your member ID card or set a goal with WebMD Digital Health Assistant). Pro-Life Breakfast scheduled Jan. 13
People for Life’s 40th annual Pro-Life Breakfast will be held Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. at the Bayfront Convention Center in downtown Erie. Guest speaker will be journalist, author and film director/producer Ann McElhinney. Doors open at 8 a.m. to allow time to peruse pro-life literature and merchandise. Tickets are $16 per person for those over age 12; $8 for ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 may attend at no cost. Purchase tickets in advance at www.peopleforlife.life/january2018.

Sign up for bus trip to Washington, D.C.
All are welcome to join People for Life’s bus trip to the 2018 March for Life in Washington, D.C., Jan. 19.¬† Anderson Coach & Travel buses will leave Erie Jan. 18 at 11 p.m. and return Jan. 20 at about 2 a.m. There will be stops at the Edinboro exit of I-79. Join Erie’s March for Life Jan. 27
The 2018 Erie March for Life, themed “Life: The Universal Language,” will be held Jan. 27 beginning at 11 a.m. at the pavilion in west Perry Square in downtown Erie. Those who are participating are asked to arrive by 10:45 a.m. Signs will be available for everyone. Wear warm clothes and comfortable, non-slip footwear.

Position opening for executive director of Faith Formation
The Diocese of Erie is seeking a creative and faith-driven leader to serve as the executive director of Faith Formation. The fruit of a collaborative diocesan planning process, this position has been identified as key to the renewal of parish life, religious education, youth ministry and family ministry. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to evangelization and lifelong faith formation, be visionary and forward-looking, relate well to lay, clergy and religious alike, and be willing to provide inspirational leadership through involvement in the day-to-day responsibilities of the office. He/she will play a key role in the ongoing development of a collaborative vision for lifelong faith formation in the Diocese of Erie. He/she will report to the vicar for Education and supervise several full-time professional colleagues.
