Fortnight for Freedom resources available
Each year, dioceses around the country arrange special events to highlight the importance of defending religious freedom. This year’s Fortnight for Freedom, sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, will be commemorated June 21 to July 4. Author of pope book to talk at Church of the Beloved Disciple
The Church of the Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St. Extension, Grove City, will host a book presentation and signing by Dr. Paul Kengor, author of A Pope and A President: John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, and the Extraordinary Untold Story of the 20th Century, on June 13 at 7 p.m. For more information, call 724-748-6700, ext. 100. A limited number of books will be available for purchase at the event.

Fourth of July celebration scheduled in Lucinda
The 78th annual Fourth of July celebration will be held July 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Parish, 112 Rectory Lane, Lucinda. The event features all-you-can-eat chicken and ham dinners, games of skill and chance for all ages, quilt tent, called-number games, live entertainment and a grand prize drawing worth more than $10,000 in cash and prizes. Dinners will be available in the dining room from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with take-outs available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Dinner tickets are $9 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children under 6. Lucinda parish to host 5K run/walk
St. Joseph Parish in Lucinda will host its Liberty 5K Run/Walk July 1 at 9 a.m. at the historic Lucinda Train Station, 1040 Lander Drive, Lucinda. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. at the nearby Rail 66 country trail. Pre-registration is encouraged and forms are available at www.st-joseph-lucinda.org/fourthofjuly or by calling 814-226-7288. 

Religious education director needed at Erie parish
St. Luke Parish in Erie is seeking a religious education director, effective immediately. The position is part-time, with duties that include coordinating the Sunday morning religious education program (K-10) and sacramental preparation. Another responsibility is overseeing the confirmation program. If interested, call the parish office at 814-825-6920.

Faith formation coordinator needed at McKean parish
St. Francis Xavier Parish in McKean is hiring a person for the position of faith formation coordinator. The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and requires a reliable and responsible person who possesses good communication and organizational skills, as well as a working knowledge of the tenets of the Roman Catholic faith and of good teaching methods. Computer skills are important and people skills are a must. The successful applicant is expected to work with Microsoft Office and Parish Data Systems.
