Fortnight for Freedom resources available
Each year, dioceses around the country arrange special events to highlight the importance of defending religious freedom. This year’s Fortnight for Freedom, sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, will be celebrated June 21 to July 4. Priests invited to diocesan-sponsored retreats
Priests are asked to read the attached letter from the Office of Clergy Continuing Education and Formation regarding diocesan-sponsored retreats for 2017. Registration information and more details are provided in the letter.

Be aware of fraudulent calls to Highmark members
Highmark has received reports of members receiving phone calls from people claiming to be from Highmark. The fraudulent callers say they want to verify member information including name, address and primary doctor. These phone calls are not from Highmark or any of its diversified businesses. This issue has been reported to the Highmark Fraud and Abuse Department and Information Security Risk Management. If you receive a phone call from 289-800-0303, please do NOT answer any questions and hang up immediately. These phone calls are not affiliated with Highmark Health.

Gannon to host free dental care clinic
Volunteers with MOM-n-PA Dental Missions, a clinic that provides free dental care to the underprivileged, will offer services June 16-17 at Gannon University’s Recreation and Wellness Center, 130 W. 4th St., Erie. Doors open each day at 6 a.m. Treatment will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. No need to show medical/insurance cards or identification. Summer camps offered at Gannon University
Gannon University in Erie offers a summer camp for youth ages 6 to 18 on topics ranging from baseball to theater, criminal investigation to environmental health. Go to for more information.

Couples celebrating 25, 50, 60 or more years of marriage invited to event
Diocesan anniversary celebrations for couples celebrating 25, 50, 60 or more years of marriage in 2017 will be held at two locations in the Diocese of Erie this summer:

  • St. Leo Magnus, Ridgway — Sunday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m.
  • St. Jude the Apostle, Erie — Sunday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m.

Parish staff members are asked to read and download the two anniversary attachments for full details and registration information.
