The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan organizations such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups.

Permanent diaconate ordination
Four men will be ordained to the permanent diaconate May 26 for the Diocese of Erie. Everyone is invited to read the attached invitation/announcement.

Thank you from all the priests of the diocese
Last weekend, parishes took a second collection to support retired priests in the Diocese of Erie. Parishes may go to for a bulletin announcement thank-you template to let parishioners know how much you appreciate their generosity to the Good Shepherd Collection. Other resources are available at this site, including a button to make a donation.

Attention, parish PDS users
On May 2, the Diocese of Erie hosted an event to thank parish PDS users and to introduce a new policy for data entry standards in PDS Church Office. Very soon, a recording of this session, as well as several handouts, will be mailed to parishes not represented at the event.

For future training purposes, the recording and handouts will be made available at a later date on the diocesan website at To help parishes bring current records into compliance with the new policy, each parish will receive via email a list of family records that need to be revised. Please direct any questions about the new policy to Amanda Phanco at or at 814-827-1194. Attendees and non-attendees are respectfully encouraged to complete a survey found at this link: Survey responses will contribute to plans for future parish staff events.

Letter templates available to parishes for CSA
Pastors may access a thank-you letter and a follow-up letter at as they complete work on the Catholic Services Appeal campaign in their parishes. For extra CSA pledge envelopes to accompany your follow-up letter, please call Bill Grant, director of Stewardship and Annual Giving, at 814-824-1192.

St. Ann Church to host Fatima celebrations
St. Ann Church, located at E. 10th Street and East Avenue, Erie, will hold several celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Mother in Fatima, Portugal. See the attachment for all St. Ann activities, beginning May 13. These celebrations are part of numerous events marking the anniversary in the Diocese of Erie. Faithful Servants jubilee issue coming soon
The annual Faithful Servants jubilee edition of FaithLife newspaper will be distributed in parishes the weekend of Aug. 5-6. The Office of Communications asks parishes to advise by June 10 whether they need more or fewer copies than last year. Email or call Brenda Williams at 800-374-3723, ext. 161, or 814-824-1161. Faithful Servants is expected to be delivered to parishes Aug. 3-4 for distribution Aug. 5-6.

Conference available to RCIA coordinators
RCIA coordinators may consider attending the National Gathering on Christian Initiation this July 5-6 in Chicago. Knights sponsor Golf & Sports Raffle 
The Knights of Columbus invite parishioners and friends to attend the 24th annual Golf & Sports Raffle on May 12 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 387 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek. Tickets are available at the parish office, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Notre Dame Concert Band to perform Mother’s Day concert
The Notre Dame Concert Band will perform a Mother’s Day concert at Holy Cross Church, 7100 West Ridge Road, Fairview, on May 14 at 2:30 p.m. The concert is a tribute to the late Mark Kulyk, a Notre Dame graduate and marching band member who was a longtime musical leader at the parish. Tickets are $5 per person. Proceeds benefit Emmaus Soup Kitchen in Erie.

Evening of prayer, music scheduled in DuBois
An evening of prayer and music will be held May 21 beginning at 6 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 15 Robinson St., DuBois. The evening will include a homily, Scripture reading, Benediction and prayers for healing, with Father Marc Solomon, pastor of Christ the King Parish in Houtzdale, presiding. SSJs hold information night on associate program
The Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania will offer an informal information session for anyone interested in becoming an associate of the congregation. The session will be held May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sisters of St. Joseph Community Living Center, 5031 West Ridge Road in Millcreek.

SSJ associates are Christian women and men who come together to share the nature and spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Associate candidates are required to complete a year of preparation and instruction about the charism, history, spirit and spirituality of the sisters before they are welcomed into the program and asked to make a non-vowed commitment, which is renewed annually. St. Casimir Rosary Society plans card party
The St. Casimir Rosary Society in Erie will hold its Blossom Time Card Party on May 31 at 6 p.m. at the St. Casimir Social Hall, Hess Avenue and Atkins streets, Erie. There will be food, raffles, door prizes and a gift auction. The donation is $7 per person.

Elementary school principal positions are open at DuBois Central Catholic School System, St. Joseph School in Lucinda, and St. Stephen School in Oil City. Interested applicants can go to for full job descriptions that contain links to application forms.
