2017 Retirement Fund for Religious collection
Pastors and administrators will find attached Bishop Lawrence Persico’s letter introducing the 2017 Retirement Fund for Religious collection. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way on the weekend of Dec. 2-3.

Pastors: Nov. 26 designated as Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians
Pastors are reminded that Nov. 26, the Solemnity of Christ the King, has been declared a Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Bishop Lawrence Persico has asked that this designation be honored at parish Masses. Pastors may find homily notes, intercessory prayers and other information by going to http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/global-issues/middle-east/christians-in-the-middle-east/index.cfm. Bishop Persico will celebrate the 11 a.m. Mass at St. Peter Cathedral to mark the day.

Change made to 2018 marriage prep schedule
There is a change to the diocesan marriage preparation schedule for 2018. The Pre-Cana at Queen of the World, St. Marys, has been changed from April 8, 2018, to March 25, 2018. Please make the change on any pre-printed marriage preparation materials. The updated schedule can be viewed at http://www.ErieRCD.org/flo_mps.htm. For more information, contact the Family Life Office at 814-824-1261 or at familylife@ErieRCD.org.

Special note for parishes using Parish Data Systems (PDS) software
Some parishes may be paying monthly support charges for PDS applications they are no longer using. Check your most recent bill from PDS. Parishes are required to carry monthly support for Church Office at a cost of $36 per month. (Church Office On-Demand users pay $60, plus $5.25 per user.) If your invoice is more than $36 per month (or $60 plus $5.25 per user for On-Demand users), you are being billed for support on more than one application. This may be OK, but it’s not a bad idea to confirm the charges with PDS since the invoice may not include a detailed description of each support charge. Contact PDS at 877-737-4457 for a detailed description of your support fees. If you still have questions after talking to PDS, contact Kathy Papalia at kpapalia@ErieRCD.org or call her at 814-824-1184.
