REVISED INSERTS FOR SEPTEMBER
Bulletin announcement No. 6
Original release date: 9/4/2011
84 days to the implementation of the new Roman Missal (as of Sept. 4)
So that we may be prepared for the changes to the new Missal in November, Bishop Trautman has asked that we learn and use the new musical settings for the Mass acclamations beginning on the weekend of September 17. Our parish musicians will help us to learn the new settings and review them with you until Advent.
Change is always difficult for us. We are comfortable with the ways we have, and any change challenges us to let go of the familiar. Change may help us grow, bring us new insight, and enable us to be creative and responsive in new ways. The changes to the Mass (especially the prayer texts and people’s responses) can be a positive experience of deeper liturgical prayer, encounters with Christ, and sense of the mystery and sacredness of the liturgy.

Parish secretaries/office staff: Please customize the above announcement with additional information that is unique to your parish such as: Remember that singing unites us and elevates the spoken word of our prayer. Our music ministry will lead us in a review of the new music for all parishioners on ________________. All are invited.

MAY
Bulletin announcement No. 5
Original release date: 5/1/2011
210 days to the implementation of the new Roman Missal (as of May 1)
Soon we will begin implementing the third edition of the Roman Missal. The most change you will recognize in this new Mass book is in the translation of the text. The translation more closely corresponds to the Latin, which is richer in imagery, and hopefully will promote deeper prayer. As you hear these new texts, it is better not to analyze them but to allow the prayer to capture your heart and lift yourselves to God.

APRIL
Bulletin announcement No. 4
Original release date: 4/3/2011
238 days to the implementation of the new Roman Missal (as of April 3)
Within the lifetime of many of us, we have celebrated Mass from three different versions of the Sacramentary. Different…but not so different. The four main divisions of the Mass – the introductory rites, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Eucharist, and concluding rite – have been in place since mid to late second century. The translations are somewhat different, but the “new” Mass is still the same Mass! Each version of the Sacramentary helps us celebrate better.

Remind the assembly about the next stage in the plan for parish implementation. What are the various committees/groups doing? Invite guests to the meetings.
MARCH
Bulletin announcement No. 3
Original release date: 3/6/2011
266 days to the implementation of the new Roman Missal (as of March 6)
The prayer of liturgy unfolds in a rhythm of sound and silence. Silence is not simply the absence of sound, but a time for prayer, recollection, and meditation. Whenever there is an invitation to silence --- for example, “Let us pray” – then we become quiet and speak to our caring God in the depths of our hearts.
Parish secretaries/office staff: Please customize the above announcement with additional information that is unique to your parish such as: You may have noticed that we take more care in praying silently during the opening of Mass. This is required by the liturgy so that we may recognize Christ’s presence in our lives more deeply.
FEBRUARY
Bulletin announcement No. 2
Original release date: 2/6/2011
293 days to the implementation of the new Roman Missal (as of Feb. 6)
Sacrosanctum Concilium (the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy) was promulgated on Dec. 4, 1963 and is the blueprint for our liturgical renewal. It asserts that liturgy is a celebration of Christ’s paschal mystery and that we are all to share in it through full, conscious, and active participation. The Church is so concerned about our whole-hearted participation because liturgy is the source and summit of our whole Christian life.
Parish secretaries/office staff: Please customize the above announcement with additional information that is unique to your parish such as: While our liturgy committee/pastoral council(is/may be) familiar with the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (“CSL”), now is a good time to review the principles of a well-celebrated liturgy. The liturgy committee will be meeting soon to review the CSL.
