History

photo of the shenango valley religious education program with people with disabilities

The Religious Education Program for People with Mental Handicaps was started in 1984 under the direction of Barbara Flickenger. Later, to be more inclusive, the name was changed to The Shenango Valley Religious Education Program with People with Disabilities. In 1993, Mrs. Flickenger left the program and Catherine Holl, one of its teachers became its Coordinator.

Our program is composed of students (aka friends) from around the Shenango Valley. My friends come from Farrell, Sharon, Hermitage and Sharpsville. They belong to Our Lady of Fatima, Saint Joseph's, Notre Dame and Saint Bartholomew Parishes. All are welcome!
