Experience reconciliation at ‘The Light is on for You’
Parishes in Erie County will be open for the sacrament of reconciliation Wednesday, April 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. The evening – called “The Light is on for You” – is an opportunity for people who have not gone to confession in a long time or who have been away from the church to return and experience Jesus’ love and forgiveness. Everyone is welcome to participate in this opportunity for confession during Lent. All Erie County Catholic parishes are participating except for All Saints in Waterford, Blessed Sacrament in Erie, and St. John the Evangelist in Girard, due to scheduling conflicts.

Chrism Mass volunteers needed
At the annual Chrism Mass, the bishop blesses oils for the anointing of catechumens, the sick, and those to be baptized, confirmed or ordained. The Office of Worship of the Diocese of Erie is requesting volunteers to participate in the procession of oils at the Chrism Mass at St. Peter Cathedral on April 15 at 4 p.m. Anyone who works with these groups or is soon to be anointed who would like to be part of the procession or to read the verbal presentation of an oil to the bishop is asked to contact the Office of Worship at 814-824-1271 or Matt Clark, administrator, at mclark@ErieRCD.org. Volunteers will not be asked to carry the urns of oil.

Liturgy reminders for the Triduum
Please see the attached top 10 tips for planning a prayerful and engaging Triduum. The Office of Worship thanks Diana Macalintal at www.Liturgy.life for permission to reprint these tips. Give some thought to these: How do you maintain the inherent unity of these three days? When do the lights come on at the Easter Vigil? How should we acknowledge those to be baptized, the elect? Do you use your best ministers for the Triduum? And don’t miss the helpful guide on the last page of the document for evaluating your Triduum.

2019 Pontifical Good Friday Collection
Pastors and administrators will find attached Bishop Lawrence Persico’s letter introducing the 2019 Pontifical Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way April 13-14.

Is your organization having a festival this summer or fall?
It’s never too early to schedule advertising for your parish/school festival. Faith magazine’s June 2019 edition will publish a listing of festivals or events in the Diocese of Erie. The listing also will be made available online and through social media. To advertise parish or school festivals or other events, contact Advertising Manager Brenda Williams at 814-824-1161 or 1-800-374-3723, ext. 161, or email bwilliams@ErieRCD.org. Space must be reserved by April 5. Please provide the details, date(s), time, place and cost for the event and, if needed, a phone number and/or website for questions. The cost is $45 per listing. This is a great resource for those planning summer activities.
