The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Special collection for Haiti scheduled Sept. 11-12
Attached please find a letter from Bishop Lawrence Persico outlining a special collection for Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake which hit that country. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way the weekend of Sept. 4-5. Donations may also be made online at www.crs.org. Parishes are asked to remit funds from this special collection to the diocesan Finance Office as soon as possible after the collection.
Prayer available as part of Re-membering our Sunday Story initiative
Bishop Lawrence Persico is encouraging parishes and individuals to offer the prayer created for the Re-membering Our Sunday Story initiative. The prayer calls upon the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to draw us together and unite us in communion with Christ, with each other and with those in need. Update Mass streaming schedules
The Office of Communications of the Diocese of Erie encourages all parishes to update their Mass streaming schedules by emailing Rich Papalia, webmaster, at rpapalia@ErieRCD.org. For reference, the streaming schedule may be viewed at https://www.eriercd.org/livestreammass.html.
Notice to parishes about fax machines
The Diocese of Erie alerts parishes that there is no longer a diocesan requirement for them to have fax machines. If a parish does not think it needs a fax machine, it may discontinue its use.

Prayer service planned to remember aborted children
A prayer service will be held for the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children on Sept. 18 at noon at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5711 West Lake Road, Erie. Please meet at the Knights of Columbus pro-life stone at the west end of the cemetery near the infant section. In case of rain, meet at the cemetery chapel. Force parish to hold golf outing
St. Joseph Parish in Force will hold its first annual Golf Outing and Bocce Tournament on Sept. 19 at Bavarian Hills Golf Course in St. Marys. There will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost for golf is $80 per person or $65 for members. It includes lunch, cart, greens fee, dinner, prizes and refreshments. The cost for a two-person bocce team is $50 per person, which includes lunch, dinner and prizes. Sponsors are needed. A flier is attached for convenience and distribution. Meadville parish offers listening sessions to non-practicing Catholics
Non-practicing Catholics are invited to renew their relationship with the Catholic Church by attending informal listening sessions offered by The Epiphany of the Lord Parish in Meadville. This series, titled “Catholics Returning Home,” will be held on six consecutive evenings beginning Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville. Former non-practicing Catholics or converts will facilitate the sessions, which will be conducted in a support-group format. Sessions are free and open to everyone. St. Michael Parish in Greenville is seeking a full-time business manager. Responsibilities include the accounting, posting and reporting functions for all receipts, disbursements, payroll, human resources and benefit activities for the parish church, elementary school and cemetery. Position reports directly to the pastor. Bachelor’s degree preferred; substantial relevant accounting/finance experience required. Proficiency with MS Office software required; experience with QuickBooks accounting software preferred. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
