Guidelines for Sunday of the Word of God
Pastors will find attached some guidelines and suggestions to celebrate the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, known as Sunday of the Word of God, to be held Jan. 24, 2021. According to Pope Francis’ apostolic 2019 letter Aperuit illis, the day should be devoted to the “celebration, study and dissemination of the Word of God,” and celebrated “with a certain solemnity.”

Online parish offertory giving
The Catholic Foundation continues to offer parishes a way to collect offertory donations online if they are not already set up to do so. In light of the governor’s recent mandates, being able to offer your parishioners a way to make their offertory gifts online is important. If you’d like to promote this online offertory option to your parishioners, copy and paste this link on your digital formats, including parish website, social media posts and e-newsletters: https://www.cfnwpa.org/online-offertory.

Also, you can copy/paste the following message into your print communications or mention it during your livestream Masses online.

Thank you to everyone who has continued their parish offertory gifts during the pandemic. If you would like the option of making your offertory gifts online, the Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania is partnering with us to facilitate these online gifts. Just go to www.MyCatholicFoundation.org and select the “Online Offertory” tab. Be sure to select [Parish Name] from the drop-down menu when making your gift. Thank you for your generous support. For more information, contact Lisa Louis, executive director, at 814-824-1237 or llouis@cfnwpa.org.
