The ethical reception of COVID-19 vaccines
As various vaccines for COVID-19 are made available to the public, concerns about safety and efficacy — as well as the ethics of their research and development — challenge all to make informed choices. Bishop Lawrence Persico has issued a statement that provides information about the vaccines and a process of ethical decision-making consistent with Catholic values. The statement, which can be found at www.eriercd.org/news/News-releases.html, also includes links to several helpful Vatican and USCCB documents.

Young Adult Lenten Retreat
Need to reconnect with your faith? Feel like this Lent needs to be something more? The Young Adult Lenten Retreat is a free, eight-week Lenten retreat Feb. 10 to April 2. It can be experienced in a small group or as an individual. Participants will meet once a week with a spiritual director, via Facetime or Zoom, who will journey with them as they explore their relationship to their faith and the world. Register at https://form.jotform.com/210035215884147. For more information, contact Jillian Zaczyk, director of the Office of Young Adult and Youth Ministry, at jzaczyk@ErieRCD.org. For convenience, a flier has been attached for parishes and schools to promote the retreat.
22:32 Men’s Conference offers in-person and Zoom format
The eighth annual 22:32 Men’s Conference, typically offered to hundreds of men at one location, will be held Feb. 27 at separate parishes in the Diocese of Erie. Men will gather at their own parishes in small groups to minimize the spread of COVID-19. The half-day event still features acclaimed Catholic speakers and witness stories that may be heard via Zoom beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at noon. With the cooperation of pastors, Mass and confessions may still be available before or after the formal presentations. For more information about hosting the conference at your parish or for your men’s group, contact Dave Wayman at taichiguy@icloud.com or 814-397-2809.
