Milestone anniversary celebrations
The public health concerns this year have made it necessary to adapt the format of diocesan celebrations for milestone anniversaries. In lieu of Masses with the bishop, the Marriage and Family Life Office will celebrate with prayer, certificates, online sharing, and packages sent to honorees. More details are forthcoming, including ideas for parishes that may wish to celebrate in smaller groups. All are welcome to check out the latest information and/or to register a couple at www.eriercd.org/familylifeoffice/anniv.html. For convenience, a mail-in registration form is attached. It may be sent to: Marriage and Family Life Office, Attn: Anniversary Mass, 429 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16504. The deadline to register is Aug. 7.
This week’s fundraising best practices during the pandemic
Even though pandemic restrictions are easing, the reality is that COVID-19 has changed the way we congregate. Fewer people attending Mass in person may mean less in offertory collection, a longer time to reach CSA goals, and increased challenges in connecting with parishioners overall. The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania offers these suggestions for fundraising best practices during this time:
- Offer a way for your parishioners to donate online. If you don’t currently offer online giving, consider using the Catholic Foundation’s parish offertory support fund at: https://catholicfoundationnwpa.salsalabs.org/parishoffertorysupportfund/index.html.
- Follow up with your parishioners about CSA. It has been four months since Commitment Sunday. Consider sending a follow-up letter to encourage gifts. Sample letters can be found at https://www.eriercd.org/Catholic-Services-Appeal-CSA-Materials.html.
- Communicate with parishioners online through email and social media. The more you engage people, the more connected they will feel to your faith community.
