St. John Vianney relic schedule
The Diocese of Erie is privileged to host a significant relic, the heart of St. John Vianney, patron of priests, at St. Peter Cathedral, Erie, on June 6. Parishes are asked to publicize this event and consider organizing a pilgrimage. Please see the attachment for a schedule of the day. Pray for vocations during relic visit
All parishes are asked to pray for vocations Thursday, June 6, as we venerate the relic of St. John Vianney. Please include the following intercession in your prayers at Masses:

“For vocations to the priesthood for our diocese, that the model of selfless giving seen in the life of St. Jean Vianney may influence young men to consider a life of service to others through the ministry of the priesthood. We pray to the Lord.”

Camp Notre Dame filling summer staff positions

Theology on Tap events scheduled today and June 17
The St. George Catholic Young Adult Ministry is hosting Theology on Tap events at Brewerie at Union Station, 123 W. 14th St., on June 3 and June 17. Both evenings will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Patrice Swick, director of the Office for Social Justice and Life of the Diocese of Erie, will speak June 3 on “Refugee Reality.” On June 17, Andrew and Renee Heinlein of St. George Church, Erie, will speak on “Catholic Family Life in this Fast-Paced World.”

Take Back the Site vigil planned in Erie
A Take Back the Site vigil will be held for Starleisha Smith on June 5 at 5:15 p.m. at 505 E. 11th St., Erie. Smith, 20, was killed at that address on May 3. Take Back the Site vigils, about 15 minutes in length, are a prayer reclaiming for nonviolence the site where a person has been murdered. The vigils are sponsored by the Benedictine Sisters of Erie and oblates, Sisters of St. Joseph and agrégées and associates, and Sisters of Mercy and associates.

Erie Parish plans novena to St. Anthony
All are invited to participate in the novena to St. Anthony of Padua at St. Paul Parish, 1617 Walnut St., Erie, June 5-13. Father Jerry Priscaro will be the celebrant and homilist at 9 a.m. weekday Masses as well as Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Traditional hymns will be sung in Italian and the Litany of St. Anthony will be said before each Mass. Enjoy a catered breakfast following the 9 a.m. Mass on June 13. Cost is $6 and reservations can be made at the novena. Please see the attachment for an announcement that can be placed in bulletins. Senior, caregiver fair/lunch offered at three parishes
Three Erie parishes are presenting a senior and caregiver fair and lunch in June. Experts will offer ways to get personal affairs in order. There also will be health and fitness assessments, presentations about finances, wills, funeral planning, medication management and full home care. The fairs will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch at the following locations, dates:

  • St. Jude the Apostle, 2801 W. 6th St., Erie, June 7
  • St. George, 5145 Peach St., Erie, June 11
  • Blessed Sacrament, 1626 W. 26th, Erie, June 12

A suggested donation to attend is $20, with a $15 discount for members of a faith community. Lunch is included in the donation. The events are supported by LECOM Institute for Successful Aging. Register now for Vacation Bible School at Our Lady of Mercy
Celebrate heroes of the Bible and join God’s superhero team at the Vacation Bible School offered by Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Harborcreek, July 22-26 from 9 a.m. to noon. Plan now for Vacation Bible School at Our Lady of Peace
Make plans now for Vacation Bible School at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 2401 W. 38th St., Erie, July 29 to Aug. 2. Students in kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to attend. Camp will run from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. each day. The cost is $40 per child and includes a T-shirt, snack each day and supplies.
