The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Join in celebration of Catholic Sisters Week
The week of March 8-14 is designated as Catholic Sisters Week. To kick off the week, the Diocese of Erie’s Office for Religious is hosting a webinar March 7 at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to join this Zoom event, featuring a welcome address by Bishop Lawrence Persico; a reflection by Sister Carol Zinn, SSJ, president of the national Leadership Conference of Women Religious; and remarks by Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper. 2021-22 compensation for women religious
Pastors and administrators will find attached two documents related to the compensation plan for women religious for the upcoming year.
Catholic Foundation’s spring education grant deadline is March 5
This Friday, March 5, is the deadline for Catholic schools, parishes and diocesan departments to apply for spring education grants. Grant requests up to $20,000 are being accepted. Are your parish lay ministers or lay staff planning to attend a conference, workshop or retreat — in person or virtually — this year? Are you planning a new religious education or faith formation project for your parish or Catholic school? Is your school or faith formation program in need of updated technology due to increased need for remote or virtual activities? Your project may be a good fit for the foundation’s education grant opportunity. Review the attached document outlining guidelines and criteria or learn more at https://www.cfnwpa.org/grant-seekers/education-grant-guidelines. 2021 Catholic Services Appeal update
With Commitment Sunday behind us, the Diocese of Erie thanks everyone for the good work they have done to promote giving to this year’s Catholic Services Appeal (CSA). Parishes are asked to utilize their parish leadership handbook for follow-up and thank-you letter ideas, etc. Also, check out the CSA parish resource page for a variety of digital tools for parish use including new CSA impact bulletin items and Facebook posts. Parish staff can find these resources at https://www.eriercd.org/Catholic-Services-Appeal-CSA-Materials.html. Diocese invites all to participate in virtual pilgrimage during Year of St. Joseph
Pope Francis has proclaimed a Year of St. Joseph in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as patron of the Universal Church. In order to mark this event, the Diocese of Erie is hosting a virtual pilgrimage featuring livestreamed Masses from each of the seven churches in the diocese named for St. Joseph. The Masses will take place between now and the end of the year, with the first stop of the pilgrimage scheduled on the feast of St. Joseph on March 19 at 7 p.m. Father Larry Richards, pastor, and the people of St. Joseph/Bread of Life Parish invite everyone to participate in the Mass via Father Larry Richards’ YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/c/FrLarryRichards. Bishop Lawrence Persico will be principal celebrant for this first step of the journey. Watch for details about the rest of the events scheduled in the coming months.
