24 Hours for the Lord
The Diocese of Erie will celebrate 24 Hours for the Lord March 22-23 at St. Peter Cathedral, 230 W. 10th St., Erie. The event is an initiative of our Holy Father with an emphasis on adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the sacrament of reconciliation. St. Peter Cathedral will be open for the whole 24 hours, with adoration and confession available during that time. Confessions will begin on March 22 at 5:45 p.m., and continue until March 23 at 3:30 p.m. For a complete program schedule, see the attached flier, which pastors are encouraged to display and/or insert in their bulletins. The Vocations Office of the Diocese of Erie and Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, are hosting a Miriam Dinner March 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the parish social center. Young women who are discerning their vocation and considering the religious life are welcome. See the attached flier for more details.

‘Liturgy Jot’ is available now
The attached March issue of “Good Liturgy Matters-Jot” deals with liturgical gestures, including bowing. This one-page, easy-to-read article is released monthly by the Office of Worship and is designed to help parish communities reflect on their weekly liturgies. Get your goal tracker for the 2019 Catholic Services Appeal
The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania has added a parish goal tracker as a resource to help parishes promote the Catholic Services Appeal (CSA). This goal tracker poster includes space for writing in your diocesan goal and your overall parish CSA goal. There’s also a “thermometer” that can be shaded or colored to show progress. A black-and-white version is attached, but both color and black-and-white options are available at https://www.ErieRCD.org/Catholic-Services-Appeal-CSA-Materials.html.

North East parish to host mission and Tap into Life event
St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Parish in North East is hosting a parish mission March 25-27, featuring two Franciscan Capuchin friars. As an extension of this mission, one of the priests, Father Tom Nguyen of Detroit, will speak March 24 during a Tap into Life evening for young adults, ages 21 to 35, at Presque Isle Wine Cellars in North East. Rolled pastries available from Our Mother of Sorrows
Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Erie is selling homemade rolled pastries this Lent. Walnut, poppy seed and apricot rolls are $10 each; sales benefit the parish. Prolife national speakers featured at Elk County event
Prolife speakers Kristan Hawkins, national president of Students for Life, and Seth Franko, retired Harlem Globetrotter, will present prolife talks at a public assembly April 1 at 7 p.m. at The Red Fern, 421 Old Kersey Road, Kersey. The event is sponsored by Life Matters Elk County, a local group of concerned citizens, local pastors, Elk County Right to Life, and Elk County Catholic Students for Life.

St. Boniface to host Communion Breakfast
St. Boniface Parish, 9367 Wattsburg Road, Erie, will hold its Communion Breakfast on April 7 immediately following the 7:30 a.m. Mass. Guest speaker is Sister Mary Miller, OSB, director of Erie’s Emmaus Soup Kitchen. The cost is $8 in advance, $9 at the door, and $25 for families. For more information, call 814-824-5333.

Redemptorist priest to speak at Meadville parish mission
The Catholic Community of Meadville will hold its parish mission, “Brought to Perfection as One,” March 24-28 from 7 to 8 p.m. each day at St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville. Redemptorist Father Michael Houston of Lima, Ohio, will be the mission speaker.

Bus pilgrimage to Sight & Sound presentation
Join Erie’s Our Lady of Peace Parish on a pilgrimage to Sight & Sound’s June 12-14 presentation of “Jesus” in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Father Rich Toohey, pastor, will be the spiritual director for the trip. The cost is $409 per person (double occupancy), $509 per person (single occupancy). There is a $50 deposit with reservations due April 3. The balance is due May 1. Make checks payable to Our Lady of Peace Parish.
