Good Shepherd Collection for retired priests
The annual Good Shepherd Collection for retired priests in the Diocese of Erie will be held at all parishes and missions as a second collection on Good Shepherd Sunday, April 21-22. A promotional kit has been prepared by Msgr. Daniel Magraw, director of the Good Shepherd Collection, and should help pastors and their office staff to promote the collection. The kit is available at https://www.eriercd.org/Good-Shepherd-Collection-materials.html. Administration of this collection is the same as other special collections. Parishes are asked to remit the initial proceeds to the diocesan Finance Office by May 18. Final contributions received should be submitted to the Finance Office before June 30. Catholic Charities Club CC Night
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie is pleased to announce Club CC Night, a celebration and continuation of the good works of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie, on Saturday, May 12, at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie. The lounge-like setting will feature delicious food and drinks, dancing and entertainment, all for a wonderful cause.

Local comedienne Lisa Chimenti-Foster will portray Sister Agnes as the evening’s toastmistress. Cleveland Nightclub DJ Brent Schmidt will offer music covering everything from the Rat Pack through today’s hits.

Monastery to host youth concert
The Young People’s Chorus of Erie will perform its “You Will Be Found” concert April 7 at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Mount Saint Benedict Monastery, 6101 East Lake Road, Erie. The chorus is a youth outreach program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend, under the artistic direction of Gabrielle Dietrich. The concert is free and open to the public.

Mercy Sisters to host spring tea
The Sisters of Mercy’s House of Mercy in Erie will host its annual spring tea April 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s Scheffner Hall, 1553 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie. Enjoy a traditional tea with sandwiches, cookies, fruit, tea and punch, along with a gift auction. Tickets are $25. Shop early for mom
Save the date for the Shop for Mom event April 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, 311 W. Ridge Ave., Sharpsville. Enjoy shopping, refreshments, food and a gift auction. There will be many crafters and vendors offering cash-and-carry Mother’s Day gifts. No cost for admission, but a monetary or non-perishable food donation to the Sharpsville Community Food Pantry would be appreciated. Parishes may share the attached flier.

Save the date for Life in the Spirit course
St. Joseph Parish in Lucinda is hosting The Gift: A Life in the Spirit course May 18-19 at the church hall, 112 Rectory Lane, Lucinda. The May 18 class runs from 6 to 9 p.m.; the May 19 class from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bring a bag lunch. Beverages will be provided. Registration is required by calling Denise Varo by May 16 at 814-744-8199. The Word of Life Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Diocese of Erie is sponsoring this free course.

Opening for development coordinator/communication and event specialist
The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time communication and event specialist to contribute to all aspects of donor relations for the Catholic Foundation and its constituents. Duties include print and digital communication initiatives, PR and promotion, event planning and donor engagement.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-plus years of experience within donor relations and event planning spheres
  • Excellent creative writing and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency with a broad range of computer software principles, including Microsoft Office, donor database management and digital communication platforms
  • Ability to supervise projects and budgets and to lead and energize work groups
  • Knowledge of Catholic stewardship principles a plus.
