Deadline for submissions is Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 4:30 p.m.
The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Obligatory memorial
A new memorial was added to the liturgical calendar in 2018: The Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. The Congregation for Divine Worship announced that this new obligatory memorial will be celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost. This year, the date of the memorial is Monday, May 24. Please note that this is NOT a holy day of obligation. For details on the prayers for Mass and the appropriate readings for the day, please see the attachment. Contact the Office of Worship at 814-824-1271 with any questions.
Prince of Peace Center sets grand opening for new, expanded clothing and thrift outlets
The Prince of Peace Center, an affiliate of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie in Farrell, and the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 8 at 11 a.m. to mark the grand opening of the center’s new Providence Clothing Store & Boutique and expanded Furniture and Appliance Thrift Outlet, all located at 502 Darr Ave. The public is invited. Refreshments will be provided. Money earned from store sales assists families in crisis to make rent and utility payments throughout the year. Prince of Peace is dedicated to strengthening families, building community and reducing poverty throughout the Mercer County area.

Junior Legion of Mary to host prayer service
The Junior Legion of Mary from Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Erie will hold a prayer service on May 20 at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 913 Fulton St., Erie. The theme is “A Portrait of Mary.” The prayer service will be followed by recitation of the rosary for the intention of an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, as part of the “marathon of prayer” requested by Pope Francis for the month of May. Memorial Day fundraiser scheduled at Holy Cross Church
Holy Cross Church, 7100 West Ridge Road, Fairview, will have a Memorial Day fundraiser May 28-30. Lombardo’s Concessions will be set up that Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There also will be a 50-50 raffle and a basket raffle. Live music will be provided on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Food is take-out only. For more information, call 814-474-2605.
