Bishop to preside at Memorial Day Mass
The 42nd annual Memorial Day Mass will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5711 West Lake Road, Erie, on May 28 at 9 a.m. Bishop Lawrence Persico will preside.
Wedding anniversary celebrations
Diocesan anniversary celebrations for couples celebrating 25, 50, 60 or more years of marriage in 2018 will be held at two locations in the Diocese of Erie this summer:
- Aug. 5 at 2 p.m., St. George Parish, Erie
- Aug. 19 at 2 p.m., Ss. Cosmas and Damian Parish, Punxsutawney.
Parish staff members are asked to read and download the two attachments for full details and a registration form. Couples and/or parish staff also may complete a registration form online at https://www.ErieRCD.org/familylifeoffice/anniv.html. All completed registration forms must be sent to the Family Life Office by mail or fax if not completed online. (Online method is preferred.) Antivirus software available through the diocese
It’s time to renew Symantec Endpoint Protection antivirus protection. Please respond to the renewal authorization forms faxed or emailed to your parish on May 14, 2018. If your parish or agency needs additional antivirus protection licenses, contact Kathy Papalia by email at kpapalia@ErieRCD.org or by phone at 814-824-1184, or indicate the number of new licenses needed when you respond to the renewal notice. The deadline for ordering/renewing is June 1, 2018.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd class offered
St. Mary Parish, 325 Church St., St. Marys, is offering the rare opportunity for anyone who would like to be trained in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Level 1 class this summer. This class is for anyone, not just catechists. It would be helpful for personal spiritual growth for parents, grandparents, teachers, priests, sisters and anyone interested in having and or sharing an encounter with Jesus in his Word. If catechists complete all course requirements, they will receive a certificate from the CGS National Association. Tuition is waived due to a grant from the Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania and the Disciples Life Faith Formation in St. Marys. DuBois parishes seek youth ministry coordinator
The Roman Catholic parishes of the DuBois area are seeking a full-time coordinator for youth ministry. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying the groundwork for middle school and high school youth in a ministry that follows Comprehensive Youth Ministry as set forth by the USCCB in Renewing the Vision.
- Bachelor’s degree in catechetics, pastoral ministry, or a related field
- Must be a Catholic in good standing
- A self-starter able to work independently and as part of several parish teams
- Computer, technology and multi-media skills
- Experience with LIFETEEN is preferred, but not required.
- Confirmation preparation
- Planning and executing of social and service activities
- Leadership development for volunteers and teens
- Ongoing collaboration and communication with parish leaders
- Diocesan safe environment background clearance.

Director of Human Resources
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie is seeking a director of Human Resources to oversee all aspects of human resource practices and processes and to serve as a contracted consultant to parishes and agencies of the Diocese of Erie.
This position requires the coordination of all facets of employee management. Primary duties include overall leadership and guidance of human resource operations, including talent acquisition, career development, retention, training, leadership development, employee relations, conflict resolution, compensation and benefits, and compliance with all local, state and federal employment laws.
The director of Human Resources also assists the Office of Child Protection and Youth to ensure that screening and approval processes comply with diocesan standards.
This position meets the criteria for an administrative exemption under the provisions of the federal and state wage and hour laws and reports directly to the vicar general of the diocese.
