Catholic Foundation offers resources to parishes promoting CSA
As parishes continue to promote the Catholic Services Appeal, they are reminded that the Catholic Foundation continues to offer resources. Parishes might consider a follow-up mailing to parishioners who have yet to pledge to this year’s CSA. A mailing might include a CSA brochure, along with a pledge envelope. Letter template ideas can be found in the parish leadership handbook and at Extra brochures and pledge envelopes may be ordered by contacting Julia Cooney at 814-824-1253 or at For assistance in creating a mailing list for this follow-up letter, contact PDS at 1-877-737-4457.

Permanent diaconate ordination
Four men will be ordained to the permanent diaconate for the Diocese of Erie by Bishop Lawrence Persico at St. Peter Cathedral, 230 W. 10th St., Erie, this Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Heart of St. John Vianney, the Curé of Ars, to visit Diocese of Erie
The Diocese of Erie is privileged to host a significant relic, the heart of St. John Vianney, patron of priests, at St. Peter Cathedral, Erie, on June 6, 2019. Parishes are asked to please publicize this event and consider organizing a pilgrimage. Please see the attachment for a schedule of the day. This also may be used as a bulletin insert. Erie Parish plans novena to St. Anthony
All are invited to participate in the novena to St. Anthony of Padua at St. Paul Parish, 1617 Walnut St., Erie, June 5-13. Father Jerry Priscaro will be the celebrant and homilist at 9 a.m. weekday Masses as well as Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Traditional hymns will be sung in Italian and the Litany of St. Anthony will be said before each Mass. Enjoy a catered breakfast following the 9 a.m. Mass on June 13. Cost is $6 and reservations can be made at the novena. Please see the attachment for an announcement that can be placed in bulletins. Senior, caregiver fair/lunch offered at three parishes
Three Erie parishes are presenting a senior and caregiver fair and lunch in June. Experts will offer ways to get personal affairs in order. There also will be health and fitness assessments, presentations about finances, wills, funeral planning, medication management and full home care. The fairs will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch at the following locations, dates:

  • St. Jude the Apostle, 2801 W. 6th St., Erie, June 7
  • St. George, 5145 Peach St., Erie, June 11
  • Blessed Sacrament, 1626 W. 26th, Erie, June 12

 A suggested donation to attend is $20, with a $15 discount for members of a faith community. Lunch is included in the donation. The events are supported by LECOM Institute for Successful Aging.
