The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Diocesan Day in Honor of St. Joseph
Bishop Lawrence Persico has asked that on June 20, 2021, all parishes of the Diocese of Erie join together to observe the Year in Honor of St. Joseph by celebrating a Diocesan Day in Honor of St. Joseph. This day will take the place of the Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Please refer to the liturgical directives attachment from the Office of Worship. Contact the office at 814-824-1270 with any questions.

As the Diocese of Erie continues to celebrate the Year of St. Joseph, Father Rick Tomasone and the people of St. Joseph Parish, Warren, invite everyone to join them virtually on Sunday, May 9, for the 10 a.m. Mass on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/saintjosephwarrenpa. Mission Office to hold online auction
The Mission Office of the Diocese of Erie is holding an online auction May 17-22 to raise funds for the celebration of the Mission of Friendship’s 50th anniversary this year. The Mission of Friendship is the Diocese of Erie’s mission located in Merida, Mexico. People may access the auction through the Mission Office website at www.eriercd.org/missions/. Parishioners, employees: Be cautious about sharing personal information
Parishes are asked to include the following notice in their weekly bulletin and also to forward it to employees and volunteers to keep everyone safe from fraud. Here is the suggested notice to be published:

            In this age when personal data can be misused by scam artists, please be aware that the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie, its clergy, and entities such as parishes and schools will never solicit your personal or business information by any method unless initiated by you. Should you receive an unsolicited request for such information — including a request for gift cards of any type — exercise extreme caution. Contact the person or entity by using official contact information only. Do not use contact information provided in the potential fraudulent request.

Pastors, parish secretaries asked to update livestream Mass information
The Communications Office of the Diocese of Erie has updated its resources related to COVID-19 through a tile available on the diocesan homepage: www.ErieRCD.org. Pastors and parish secretaries are invited to regularly visit the listing of livestream parish Masses found at https://www.eriercd.org/livestreammass.html. If your times or links have changed, or if you are not listed and would like to be, please send details to Rich Papalia, webmaster, at RPapalia@ErieRCD.org.

Scholarship opportunity available to seniors
The Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese of Erie was recently made aware of a scholarship opportunity available to all Catholic high school seniors who attend private, Catholic or public schools. Five Catholic high school seniors who are relatives of an active or deceased member of the Catholic War Veterans & Auxiliary will be chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship. The instructions and application (June 1 deadline) are attached and are also available at https://wp2.cwv.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/CWV-Scholarship-Application-12.20.2020.pdf.

Mother's Day retreat for women experiencing infertility, loss
Springs in the Desert, a Catholic ministry for women and couples experiencing infertility and loss, knows how difficult Mother's Day can be. It often surfaces negative emotions, creating a sense of dread to the point that some couples even avoid attending Mass that Sunday. The Springs in the Desert team invites couples to transform this day from one of isolation to community and solidarity by attending the virtual Springs of Hope Mother’s Day retreat, “Belonging,” May 7-9. This retreat is for all who long for motherhood, whether experiencing primary or secondary infertility, miscarriage or loss, diagnosed or unexplained, and even for those who are menopausal or past child-bearing years. Healing Mass scheduled in Erie
The Son of God Prayer Group in Erie is sponsoring a healing Mass at Holy Rosary Church, 2701 East Ave., Erie, on May 11. Worship begins at 6:15 p.m. with Mass starting at 6:30 p.m.

Beep Beep Bingo is back!
Beep Beep Bingo has returned for 2021 on May 14 in the parking lot of Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 W. 26th St., Erie. Participants remain in the comfort of their vehicles while they try to win big at bingo. The lot opens for parking at 6:30 p.m. Bingo commences at 8 p.m. The cost is $20 per packet (each car occupant must purchase a packet). Tickets are available for purchase at https://blessed-sacrament-school-bingo.square.site or in the school office, 2510 Greengarden Road. Spaces are limited. Must be over 18 to attend this event. Sacred Heart Parish to hold drive-thru spaghetti dinner
All are welcome to enjoy the 68th annual spaghetti dinner at Sacred Heart Church auditorium, 816 W. 26th St., Erie, on May 16. The event is drive-thru only, from noon to 5 p.m. Enjoy spaghetti with homemade sauce and meatballs, salad, bread and dessert, all for only $9. A quart of meatballs and sauce is $6. Cash and credit cards accepted. There also will be a 50/50 and theme baskets (four valued at $250 each). Tickets ($1 each for the raffle, $5 each for theme baskets) may be purchased at the drive-thru or at the church office.

Life in the Spirit Seminar planned in person at Holy Redeemer
The Word of Life Catholic Charismatic Renewal Center in Erie is sponsoring an in-person Life in the Spirit Seminar May 21-22 at Holy Redeemer Parish, 11 Russell St., Warren. All COVID protocols will be observed. Registrations are appreciated by May 19. Please see the attachment for full details and the registration form.
