Invitation to the 2018 Presbyteral Ordination

Parish festival ads
The Office of Communications of the Diocese of Erie is offering special festival advertising space in FaithLife newspaper. A listing of parish festival events will be published in the June 10 edition of FaithLife. One ad in this list costs $35 and must be reserved by May 18.

Faith magazine’s August issue also will feature festival ads. Quarter-page advertisements are $450. An eighth-page advertisement in the magazine is $250. Call 814-824-1161 for dimensions and other details. The deadline to reserve space in Faith magazine is June 30. Submit your own ad or have one designed for you by our staff.

Benedictines for Peace organize Silent Walk for Peace
The Benedictines for Peace in Erie will hold a Silent Walk for Peace May 17 from 7 to 7:30 p.m., beginning at the Eastside Grassroots Coalition, 2021 E. 20th St., Erie. The walk promotes inner peace to support and deepen a shared constructive action for justice and peace. Next month’s Silent Peace Walk will be held June 20 along the Bayfront Promenade in Erie, beginning and ending at the Bayview Park near Cherry Street. All are welcome.

Charismatic Mass planned in Emporium
A Charismatic Mass will be offered May 18 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Elk County Catholic High School, 600 Maurus St., St. Marys, with Father Paul Siebert, pastor of St. Mark Parish, Emporium, as the celebrant. Erie parish to host card party
The St. Casimir Rosary Society of St. Casimir Church, 629 Hess Ave., Erie, is sponsoring its Blossom Time Card Party May 30 at 6 p.m. at the church social hall. There will be a luncheon, raffles, door prizes and a gift auction. A $7 donation is requested to attend.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd class offered
St. Mary Parish, 325 Church St., St. Marys, is offering the rare opportunity for anyone who would like to be trained in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Level 1 class this summer. This class is for anyone, not just catechists. It would be helpful for personal spiritual growth for parents, grandparents, teachers, priests, sisters and anyone interested in having and or sharing an encounter with Jesus in his Word. If catechists complete all course requirements, they will receive a certificate from the CGS National Association. Tuition is waived due to a grant from the diocesan education and formation endowments and from the Disciples Life Faith Formation in St. Marys. Scramble scheduled at Venango Valley Golf Course
Join the ninth annual Holy Rosary (Erie) Golf Scramble June 27 at Venango Valley Golf Course in Venango, Erie County. The cost is $80 per person. The event is open to women and men over 21 years of age. Sign in at 11 a.m., enjoy lunch and be ready for the shotgun start at noon. A goodie bag will be provided for all players. Director of Human Resources
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie is seeking a director of Human Resources to oversee all aspects of human resource practices and processes and to serve as a contracted consultant to parishes and agencies of the Diocese of Erie.

This position requires the coordination of all facets of employee management. Primary duties include overall leadership and guidance of human resource operations, including talent acquisition, career development, retention, training, leadership development, employee relations, conflict resolution, compensation and benefits, and compliance with all local, state and federal employment laws.

The director of Human Resources also assists the Office of Child Protection and Youth to ensure that screening and approval processes comply with diocesan standards.

This position meets the criteria for an administrative exemption under the provisions of the federal and state wage and hour laws and reports directly to the vicar general of the diocese.
