The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

2020 Catholic Campaign for Human Development
Pastors and administrators will find attached Bishop Lawrence Persico’s letter introducing the 2020 collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, taken the weekend of Nov. 21-22. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way on the weekend of Nov. 14-15.
Modifications to the plenary indulgences for the deceased
Please find attached the announcement of the Apostolic Penitentiary concerning the extension of the plenary indulgences for the deceased for the whole month of November.
#iGiveCatholic resources and prize details
The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania doesn’t want anyone to miss out on the exciting opportunity to participate in the upcoming #iGiveCatholic Giving Day. The Catholic Foundation has registered all Diocese of Erie Catholic parishes, schools and ministries to participate in this event, unless they have indicated that they do not wish to participate. Opt out by contacting Michelle Basista at mbasista@cfnwpa.org or 814-824-1192. Participating in #iGiveCatholic can earn organizations a cash prize. Prize details can be found at https://erie.igivecatholic.org/. Marketing the #iGiveCatholic initiative will increase the chances of achieving success. Consider using email, a website, social media and print materials (newsletters or bulletins) to promote #iGiveCatholic. The attached templates can be useful.
REEF grants: extraordinary funding cycle for 2020
All are asked to share the following information with those who may be interested in receiving funding for current or past (within 2020) projects, programs and activities:
Due to COVID-19, many Religious Education Enrichment Fund (REEF) grants that were awarded were not claimed because of cancelled events. Therefore, REEF is accepting applications for an extraordinary funding cycle with a submission deadline of Nov. 30, 2020. Applications must align with REEF parameters; please see the REEF grants page on the diocesan website at www.ErieRCD.org. This special cycle will consider applications seeking reimbursement for expenses already incurred (in 2020) and for expenses to be paid before Dec. 30, 2020. Please note: Applications for faith-based software programs, e.g., Formed, Word on Fire, etc., are eligible, while applications for technology hardware, e.g., computers, projectors, etc., are not eligible. Catholic Foundation’s annual investors meeting
The board of directors of the Catholic Foundation is hosting its first annual meeting of investors on Nov. 4 from 4 to 5 p.m. This Zoom meeting is designed for administrators of agencies that hold endowments with the Catholic Foundation, their finance councils, finance staff, board members and others with interest in endowment-building. Order Thanksgiving breads now
St. Anthony Parish in Sharon is holding a Thanksgiving bake sale Nov. 24 at its church hall, the Antonium. Use the Sherman Avenue entrance. Order plain bread for $6, raisin bread for $7, cinnamon rolls for $8 a dozen (can be ordered with or without raisins). Orders may be picked up from 4 to 6 p.m. This time will be strictly enforced due to COVID-19 concerns. Masks must be worn and social distancing must be maintained. Erie’s St. Patrick Parish has opening for food pantry director
St. Patrick Parish in Erie has an opening for director of its parish food pantry. The Food Pantry serves 450 to 500 families per week and is staffed by volunteers. The director position is salaried.
