It also offers social activities, such as a Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas party, plays and a picnic. In addition there are spiritual growth opportunities such as a retreat, May Crowning, etc. And of course fellowship! It is composed of students (aka friends) from around the Erie area.

Meetings are held twice a month on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30. We meet in the Bishop Michael J. Murphy meeting room at St. Mark Catholic Center. 429 E. Grandview Blvd.
If you know someone who would like to attend please call Ms. Barb Nitkiewicz at 452-3738 or Mrs. Mary Rita Horvath at 899-2099.
Barb or Mary Rita will let you know the next date on the schedule, how to enter the building and they will prepare a warm welcome! Our schedule is always flexible as the needs of parents and students change.
History
Almost three decades ago teachers recognized the need to tutor children with special needs, especially those who were preparing to receive the Sacraments. Parents of children with physical or mental impairments were asking for help in teaching the faith. Some may have needed special accommodations, but the majority simply needed to be tutored. The Department of Religious Education, thus addressed the circumstance by starting classes for those with special needs. The tutoring continued, and teachers noticed the students’ sincere inward manifestation of a true love for God.
More recently the Department has been encouraging parishes to practice the inclusion of children with special needs. However, the need for adults to continue to grow spiritually through some form of education is well recognized in the Church today. As a person expands their life experiences in other areas, so must they continue to expand their faith.
