Final reminder: Parishes asked to promote annual Catholic Charities Appeal
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie has launched an annual appeal in order to bridge a substantial shortfall in funding to support people in need. Throughout this pandemic, Catholic Charities has provided front-line care and emergency services to parishes and affiliate agencies throughout the diocese. Funds collected will support the network of Catholic Charities agencies throughout the 13 counties of northwest Pennsylvania that assist people with everything from food and utility assistance to counseling and emergency social services. Thank you for your assistance in publicizing this appeal.

Simply Celebrating Advent and Christmas micro-site has launched
Pastors and parishes are encouraged to help promote a new website created by the Office of Faith Formation and the Communications Office to help people find simple, creative ways to celebrate Advent and Christmas at home in a year like no other. Visit www.eriercd.org/christmas.html for everything from Advent wreath ideas to a Christmas-week prayer service that can be offered in the home or with loved ones who are far away using technology. In addition, a link to a listing of Christmas Eve and Christmas Masses being offered at parishes across the diocese, both in person and via livestream, will go live on the site beginning Dec. 10.

Is your parish or school having a Lenten dinner?
It may be Advent but the deadline is already here to schedule advertising for your Lenten dinners. Faith magazine’s February 2020 edition will publish a listing of all entities that provide Lenten meals. Space must be reserved by Dec. 15. The listing also will be made available online and through social media. Remember, Ash Wednesday is Feb. 17. To advertise parish or school Lenten dinners in the “Lenten Offerings” feature in Faith, contact Advertising Manager Brenda Williams at 814-824-1161 or 1-800-374-3723, ext. 161, or email her at bwilliams@ErieRCD.org. Please provide the date(s), time, place and cost for the dinner and, if needed, a phone number for questions. The cost is $45 per listing. This is a great resource for those looking for meatless dinners during Lent.

International Catholic Stewardship Council newsletter
The Catholic Foundation is happy to share the International Catholic Stewardship Council’s December newsletter, found at https://catholicstewardship.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/ICSC-Parish-Ebulletin_DEC_20.pdf. Pastors and parish staff are encouraged to read and share this publication with their parishioners or use all or parts of it for their parish bulletin, as long as the author/source are credited.
