Disciplining your child does not always mean punishment. Sometimes a child learns self-discipline by experiencing the consequences of their actions. If they chose not to study for a test, a poor grade results. Perhaps a hard lesson, but better to learn it as a child when the stakes are low than when losing a job might be the consequence.
