Diocesan Youth Board Information and Application
Click here to apply to the 2019 DYB.
Application to the Diocesan Youth Board (DYB) is open to Catholic youth in grades 8 through 12.
All meetings will be held from 11a.m until 5p.m. unless informed otherwise. Locations will vary. Dates are also subject to changed based on the Board’s approval.
In addition, work will be required outside of these meeting times. Besides work for the Board meetings, each DYB member will be required to complete an Individual Ministry Project, which will be explained at the first meeting.
The majority of communication for DYB will be via email. Students MUST have their own email address for this purpose. A parent email address is also required on this application since parent’s will be included in all email communication. Commitment to the DYB includes the cooperation and support of the parents who are invited into this process as a DYB member’s primary mentors. The last part of this application form is directed at parents.
Students must also indicate a Parish Mentor who will work along side them outside of the DYB meeting dates. This parish Mentor should be someone who is comfortable sharing their faith, is willing to pray with and for the DYB, will hold you accountable for your work on the board, will advocate for you with your pastor and Pastoral Council, and will work with you on all DYB projects that require assistance. After you provide your Parish Mentor’s information in this application, they will be asked to fill out their own application form.
Finally, there is a financial investment to be part of the DYB. The fee of $200 covers all meals and accommodations for weekends and all materials for the year. It is recommended that the parish and/or school help defray the cost through sponsorship as your involvement in the DYB is as a representative for that organization. Please inquire with your pastor and/ or principal.
Complete the form and, if you have questions, contact Jennifer Durney, Coordinator for the Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry for the Catholic Diocese of Erie, firstname.lastname@example.org or 814-824-1219.
