Church in Latin America Collection
Please see the attached letter from Bishop Persico introducing the Church in Latin America Collection, which will be taken up the weekend of Aug. 15 and 16. Parishes are asked to publicize the collection in a significant way the weekend of Aug. 8 and 9. Promotional resources, including a flyer, bulletin graphic, bulletin announcement, social media graphic and other parish communication materials, are available at https://www.eriercd.org/latinamericacollection.html.

Glinodo Goat Fest
The Benedictine Sisters of Erie invite you to the fourth Glinodo Goat Fest, 6270 East Lake Rd., Erie, on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 1-4 p.m. Goats from Let's Goat Buffalo and Rosemary and Pine will be on scene helping us clear out invasive species from Glinodo's creek side trail. This event is free, family-oriented, and open to all. Learn about the goats and goat-scaping, participate in hands-on environmental education with the Regional Science Consortium, explore the storybook trail, and join us for crafts, games and snacks. New this year—bring your own shirt, hat, or bag to get stamped on-site with a goat fest logo! Join us for this celebration of the Earth and our connection to it. See the attached poster. St. Charles Parish Picnic
St. Charles Parish is hosting their annual parish picnic. On Sunday, Aug. 23, following 10 a.m. Mass at St. Nicholas Church, 3028 Shannondale Rd., Mayport, the annual picnic will take place on the St. Nicholas church grounds. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend some time and get to know the new pastor, Fr. Kevin Holland. Come and share fun and fellowship with the whole family.
Faith on Fire August events
St. Joseph/Bread of Life Parish, 147 W. 24th St., Erie, along with Faith on Fire is hosting these upcoming events:
- Monday, Aug. 10 | A Healing Mass will begin at 6:15 p.m. with Harmony House, followed by Mass at 6:30. Fr. Joe Petrone is the celebrant. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
- Saturday, Aug. 22 | A Greater Things luncheon—Angels of Light—will be held from 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Tickets are sold online: Early Bird $12.50 until Aug. 12, regular price $14 until Aug. 18, The cost is $10 without lunch. Tickets are sold online, or you can pay at the door. Dr. Sabol will speak about how the devil attempts to afflict believers by deceiving them with seemingly harmless actions. She will be sharing stories from her experiences in assisting people who have been demonically afflicted. This presentation will be from a Catholic Christian biblical perspective. 50th anniversary of Young People Who Care
Anawim Ministries, 1031 Germania Rd., Frenchville, is hosting a 50th anniversary celebration. Beginning Friday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m., come celebrate five decades of faith, fellowship and God’s many blessings with a weekend filled with community, worship, music and fun. Vocational Ministry virtual workshop
With support from the Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania’s “Feed My Sheep” grant, St. Francis Xavier Parish, 8880 Main St., McKean, will host a virtual workshop with Vocation Ministry on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Participants will learn how to incorporate vocations into their Faith Formation calendar, receive free resources and practical ideas for program-wide activities, hear success stories about encouraging youth in discernment and more. Because the workshop is virtual, participants may attend at St. Francis Xavier Parish, gather with a small group at another location or join from home or the office. Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network is hosting the Little Italy Farmers Market, 430 West 19th St., Erie. Every Monday, June 22-Sept. 28, 3-6 p.m., except Labor Day, Sept. 7. St. Joseph Bread of Life Parish, 147 W. 24th St., Erie, is hosting a welcoming opportunity to connect, share experiences and build community in faith. Maria House Project Evening of Hope
Maria House Project invites all to An Evening of Hope on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th St., Erie.
Guest speakers include Tim Joncas, executive director of Maria House Project, presenting “The Evil is in the Lie,” and Antonio Howard, an autodidactic artist who was sentenced to life in prison at age 15 and released after more than 26 years, presenting “It’s My Story and I’m Sticking to It.” Light refreshments will be served in the church vestibule after the program. Director of Strategic Planning and Analytics
The Director of Strategic Planning and Analytics provides strategic leadership for the collection, analysis, reporting and use of data to support the mission and continuous improvement of Catholic education throughout the Diocese of Erie. Working collaboratively with the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, diocesan leadership, principals and other departments, the Director develops comprehensive data systems that inform decision-making, strengthen school effectiveness and promote organizational excellence.
This position oversees the catholic school’s diocesan information systems, develops executive dashboards and performance reports, analyzes trends in enrollment, student achievement, finances and school operations and ensures the accuracy, integrity and security of diocesan data. The Director also supports accreditation, strategic planning, compliance reporting, and school improvement efforts by providing timely and meaningful data analysis that assists school leaders in making informed decisions. Coordinator of Catholic Identity and Mission (Part-time)
The Diocese of Erie is seeking a faith-filled and mission-driven leader to serve as Coordinator of Catholic Identity and Mission. This part-time role is a key partner to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools and is responsible for strengthening Catholic identity, promoting faith formation and fostering vibrant school communities across the diocesan system. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the spiritual and cultural life of Catholic schools while supporting leaders, educators and students in living out the Gospel.
