The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Order of Penance
The new translation of the Order of Penance was recently approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and confirmed by the Apostolic See for use in the dioceses of the United States of America beginning Ash Wednesday (Feb. 22, 2023). #iGiveCatholic final results are in
The Catholic Foundation is happy to announce the final results for #iGiveCatholic. With all offline gifts tallied, $400,067 was raised by 1,947 donors for 95 organizations. Organizations that were fiscally sponsored by the Catholic Foundation and those that were prize winners will receive a check by the end of the year from the foundation. The new address for St. John the Evangelist Church is 1001 Main St. East, Girard, PA 16417. The new mailing address is P.O. Box 32, Girard, PA 16417. 

Mission Office collections funds reminder
Pastors and administrators are reminded, if you have not already done so, to please submit to the Diocesan Mission Office the funds from the Collection for the Church in Latin America and World Mission Sunday Collection 2022 as soon as possible. In general, the proceeds of these collections should be sent to the Mission Office soon afterward so that funds can be forwarded to their recipients before the end of the year. 45th Annual Pro-Life Breakfast
People for Life’s 45th Annual Pro-Life Breakfast will be held on Jan. 14 at the Erie Bayfront Convention Center. The main speaker will be Patricia Sandoval. She will tell her story of finding forgiveness and restoration after three abortions and three years as a homeless drug addict. Tickets are $22 for ages over 12 and $14 for ages 3 to 12. March for Life bus trip
Attend the 50th Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20. Buses chartered by People for Life will leave Erie on the evening of Jan. 19 at 11 p.m. and return at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 21. Students and families on tight budgets are encouraged to inquire about sponsorships arranged by People for Life. Reservations should be made as soon as possible. Fostering intimacy with God through silence and stillness
The Bethany Retreat Center in Frenchville is hosting an Introduction to Centering Prayer retreat with Sister Ruth Ann Madera, Jan. 27 to 29 at the Bethany Retreat Center, 1031 Germania Rd., Frenchville. Six additional follow-up sessions will be scheduled throughout 2023. Centering prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares a person to receive the gift of contemplative prayer.
