#iGiveCatholic preliminary results are in
The Catholic Foundation is happy to announce preliminary results for #iGiveCatholic. Through Dec. 1, $324,485.00 was raised by 1,660 donors for 101 organizations in the Diocese of Erie. As a reminder, all organizations have until 11:59 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to enter offline #iGC gifts to their dashboard. Due to the extended period to add those gifts, the Catholic Foundation will announce the remainder of the prize winners and final totals after Dec. 9. Stay tuned to the Catholic Foundation Facebook page and the Diocese of EriE-news for updates. Pastors invited to encourage Engagement Encounter
With many couples getting engaged around the holidays, please encourage them to attend Engagement Encounter on Jan. 13 to 15. Is your PC running Windows 8? Is anyone on your network running Windows 8?
If you are still on Windows 8 or 8.1, Microsoft is cutting support for this version on January 10, 2023. You must either upgrade your computer operating system or replace your PC before that date. If you continue using your Windows 8 machine after Jan. 10, 2023, you run the risk of exposing your parishioner’s private information to hackers. Identity theft is a prevalent crime. Once hacked, even computers on the same network that don’t contain parishioner information can become a threat to information on your PC. Upgrading or replacing computers running out-of-date applications like Windows 7 and Windows 8 is very important. Microsoft is also retiring Office 2013 on April 11, 2023. Using old versions of Microsoft Office also can be a threat because Microsoft stops issuing security upgrades for retired applications. You can purchase Microsoft Office through the Diocese of Erie. Inquiries may be directed to Kathy Papalia at it@eriercd.org or 814-824-1184.

The Light is on for You
In preparation for the celebration of Christmas, various churches in Erie County are offering confession and quiet time for prayer on Dec. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome to take advantage of the Lord’s gift of mercy through the sacrament of reconciliation. Another five parishes in the region (Mount Calvary, Our Lady of Mercy, St. Gregory, St. James and St. Mark) will offer a joint penance service the same day at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 837 Bartlett Rd., Harborcreek. These special events do not take the place of regularly scheduled confession times in individual churches of the diocese. See flier for churches in Erie County that have informed us they are participating.

Communications Office requests parish Christmas Eve, Christmas Mass times
Having Christmas Eve and Christmas Mass times all in one place on the diocesan website makes it easy for the public to access this important information. Therefore, the Communications Office of the Diocese of Erie asks each parish to please provide the following information by Dec. 6. Updates can be made to the site after that date, but it will be launched with the information available on Dec. 15. Please submit the following:

  1. Parish name
  2. Parish town
  3. Parish contact person
  4. Parish contact person email
  5. Parish contact person phone
  6. Christmas Eve Mass times
  7. Christmas Day Mass time(s)

Note: For convenience, copy and paste the above questions and provide your answers in an email to Rich Papalia, webmaster, at rpapalia@ErieRCD.org.
