The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Parish music directors invited to participate in diocesan choir
In an ongoing effort to offer more collaboration and representation from throughout the diocese, Dr. Richard Robert Rossi, director of liturgical music/organist at St. Peter Cathedral, Erie, is inviting music directors at all parishes in the diocese to form a choir available for major diocesan functions. Due to the distance involved, music will be sent electronically in advance and rehearsals will be kept to a few hours before each event. The first event scheduled is the Chrism Mass on Monday, April 3 at 1 p.m. Choir call will be 11:30 a.m. Those interested will find a link at https://stpetercathedral.com. The second event for the choir will be ordination to the priesthood on Friday, May 26 at 7 p.m., with the choir call at 5:30 p.m. See flier for details.

Catherine’s Club Giving Circle grant opportunity
Catherine’s Club Giving Circle was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 2018 to provide grants annually for up to the amount of $3000 to non-profit organizations whose primary mission is to assist women and children. Grant applications can be submitted until March 15 and are awarded in June of each year. Non-profit organizations are eligible for these grants. Applications are available at the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse, 444 East Grandview Blvd., Erie, or by calling Edie Hudson at 814.824.2516 or ehudson@sistersofmercy.org.

Catholic Foundation Faith Formation Grant opportunity
Are you involved in planning or implementing a faith formation project for your parish? Are you planning a parish mission or faith formation special event in the fall or in spring of 2024? Have you realized a need in the past year for increased online or digital resources for faith formation? Consider applying for a Faith Formation Grant from the Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania to help fund your project. Applications are now being accepted. Resources for the Revised Order of Penance
The first use for the newly revised Order of Penance will be permitted on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22. Mandatory use will be the Second Sunday of Easter (Sunday of Divine Mercy), April 16.

The Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC) has prepared free downloadable resources for use at your parishes. They may be duplicated locally for use as an aid in the confessional or as a catechetical tool when preparing adults or children for the sacrament. Cards for the confessional or catechesis can be found at https://fdlc.org/penance/ :

  • Options for the Prayer of the Penitent (8.5” x 11”, to be printed back-to-back)
  • A simple order of service for “The Order of Reconciling an Individual Penitent” (large print, full sheet to be printed back-to-back)

St. Martin Center’s signature fundraiser, Erie’s Best Coffee, is back on Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier, Erie. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and kids ages 12 and under are free. Part-time finance assistant
The St. Martin Center in Erie is seeking a part-time finance assistant. The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, working knowledge of finance, with emphasis on non-profit accounting, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and specialized knowledge of accounting software.
