The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Prayer intentions at World Youth Day
A group of 20 adults and youths will represent the Diocese of Erie at World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 28 to Aug. 8, carrying a book of shared prayer intentions. Individuals are invited to submit their prayers online at https://forms.office.com/r/0ViB8mDCQi, which will be prayed over and taken along on the journey. Catholic Foundation offers Catholic Social Ministry Grant opportunity
The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania is now accepting applications for its Catholic Social Ministry Grant. Applications will be accepted through July 31. Eligibility criteria for this grant has been expanded. Those eligible to apply for these grants are Catholic nonprofits listed in The Official Catholic Directory, which are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code and serve people within the 13 counties of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie, departments of the Diocese of Erie, and Catholic parishes. Living out Laudato Si’
Catholic Rural Ministry is asking youth to practice care for the earth through the Laudato Si’ Action Platform. This is an initiative of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development inspired by Pope Francis’s encyclical letter, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home. It is a virtual platform and worldwide community taking action to care for the earth and the poor. Participants of all backgrounds, faiths and experience levels reflect on their lifestyles, evaluate opportunities for change, and set concrete action plans that help renew relationship with God, with others and with nature to answer the cry of the earth, the cry of the poor and the cry of future generations.

The Catholic Foundation is happy to share the attached July edition of the International Catholic Stewardship Council newsletter (English and Spanish versions are available). Pastors and parish staff are encouraged to read and share this publication with their parishioners, using all or parts of it for their parish bulletin, with credit to the author/source.

Parish mission
St. Mark and Mt. Calvary parishes are hosting their 2023 parish mission on July 16-18 from 6-8 p.m. each night with Father Joseph Petrone at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 695 Smithson Ave., Erie. The topic is the Eucharist and the three theological virtues. See flier for details. All are welcome.

Pancake breakfast
St. Stanislaus Parish in Erie will hold a pancake breakfast following the 9 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parish hall, 516 E. 13th St., Erie. The $6 plate includes pancakes, sausage, a fruit cup, coffee and orange juice. Tickets are available at the door. For more information, contact John Villa at 814.572.0755. All proceeds will benefit St. Stanislaus Church's sound-system fund.

104th Annual Novena
Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Erie will hold the 104th Annual Novena in Honor of St. Ann at St. Ann Church, 931 East Ave., from July 18-26, with daily Masses at 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on July 18-21 and 24-26. Weekend Masses are at 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on July 22, and at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on July 23. Confessions will be heard 45 minutes before each Mass. Guest celebrant and preacher Father Francis Landry C.P., a Passionist for 50 years and an ordained priest for 47, will guide the event. All are invited to participate in this long-standing tradition.

St. Mark and Mt. Calvary golf tournament
St. Mark the Evangelist and Mt. Calvary parishes are hosting their third Annual Golf Tournament on July 22 at Scenic Heights Golf Course, 7830 Knoyle Rd, Wattsburg. This event helps fund the amazing events/projects going on at the parishes to strengthen and grow this faith community. Hole sponsors, teams and support are needed to make this event as successful as possible. National NFP Awareness Mass
One Flesh, Given and Received is this year’s theme for National Natural Family Planning Awareness Week. Join other families in celebrating God’s vision for married love on Sunday, July 23rd at the 11 a.m. Mass at St. Peter Cathedral, 230 W. 10th St., Erie, with Bishop Lawrence Persico. Vacation Bible School
Mark your calendar for July 31-Aug. 4 for a week of Vacation Bible School fun at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 837 Bartlett Rd., Harborcreek. This year’s theme is Wild About Jesus. Registration forms are available at Our Lady of Mercy on the bulletin tables and at the parish website at www.ourladyofmercychurch.org. All children age four years through sixth grade are welcome. Blessed Sacrament Scholarship Golf Tournament
The 11th annual Blessed Sacrament Scholarship Golf Tournament, benefiting Blessed Sacrament School students, is set for Aug. 4 at Whispering Woods Golf Club, 7214 Grubb Rd., Erie. This event relies on the generous support from parish, community and business partners. Donations are appreciated. Car cruise
Knights of Columbus Council 13427 is sponsoring the 11th annual Cruise to the Country car cruise-in at St. Boniface Church, 9363 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, on Aug. 5 from 4-8 p.m. Admission is free for spectators and $5 for exhibitors. Trophies will be awarded and the first 100 cars receive dash plaques. The event also features a gift auction, a 50/50 raffle and a spaghetti dinner.

Three-day pilgrimage
A three-day pilgrimage to Our Lady of Champion and two other U.S. shrines is set for Sept. 12-14, departing from Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 837 Bartlett Rd., Erie. The journey includes visits to the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Belleview, Ohio, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion in New Franken, Wisconsin, and the Shrine of Christ's Passion in St. John, Indiana. Sight & Sound Theatre trip
A two-day bus trip to Lancaster, Pa., including a live production of Moses at the Sight & Sound Theatre, is set for Sept. 18-19, departing from Holy Redeemer Church, 11 Russell St., Warren. The cost is $260 per person for a shared room or $340 for a private room and includes transport, a stay at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and theatre admission.
