Annual Parish Report for Child Protection Compliance
Parishes are reminded that the Annual Parish Report for Child Protection Compliance is due June 12, 2026. All parishes are required to complete the report. The information on the report is necessary to complete the annual USCCB Charter Audit for Child Protection Compliance that the Diocese undergoes each year. The Report and instructions are attached for your convenience. If you have any questions or need assistance in completing the report, please do not hesitate to contact Maria Burkley, Director of the Office for the Protection of Children and Youth, at 814-824-1195 or mburkley@eriercd.org.
Important parish address update
Holy Rosary Parish merged with St. John the Baptist Parish on July 1, 2024. Despite this change, mail is still occasionally being sent to the former Holy Rosary address at 2701 East Avenue, Erie, PA 16504. Please be advised that this address is no longer associated with the parish. It is now home to Brandy’s Corner, an emergency shelter for women and children operated by the Mercy Center for Women.
Additionally, the United States Postal Service does not forward mail addressed to Holy Rosary, as a non-profit church is classified as a business. We kindly ask that all correspondence be directed to the current parish address to ensure proper delivery. The parish address is: 509 E. 26th St. Erie, PA 16504.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
Peter’s Pence Collection
Please find attached Bishop Persico’s letter introducing the Peter’s Pence Collection, which will be taken the weekend of June 27–28, 2026. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way the weekend of June 20–21, 2026. Resources to assist with promotion have been created and are available at https://www.eriercd.org/peters-pence.html, including a flyer, bulletin graphic, bulletin announcement, social media graphic and other parish communication materials.
Emmaus Clergy Convocation Resources Available
The Diocese of Erie Office of Communications & Advancement has created resources to help parishes encourage prayerful support for the priests and deacons participating in the Emmaus Clergy Convocation, June 22–25, 2026. The communications toolkit includes social media graphics, a flyer, bulletin graphic, website banner, prayer card and parish announcements and talking points. Parishes are encouraged to use these materials to invite the faithful to pray for the clergy of the Diocese of Erie during this annual gathering for prayer, fraternity, spiritual renewal and ongoing formation. View resources at: https://www.eriercd.org/emmaus.html.
250 Hours of Adoration – Parish Participation Requested
To help promote Eucharistic Adoration across all 13 counties during the USCCB’s 250 Hours of Adoration initiative (June 11–July 4), parishes are invited to submit their adoration times and special events for inclusion on the webpage. Several parish adoration opportunities have already been added to the diocesan listing at https://www.eriercd.org/250-adoration-times.html.
Please email your parish name, adoration schedule, location and any special details to IBEditor@eriercd.org. We look forward to sharing and promoting these opportunities throughout the diocese.
Milestone Anniversary Celebrations
Each year, the Diocese of Erie is honored to celebrate milestone anniversaries with couples throughout our 13-county diocese. Couples celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th or 60+ anniversary are invited to take part in this special recognition of the Sacrament of Marriage and their commitment to one another.
This year, due to unforeseen medical circumstances for multiple members of our staff, we are unable to host the traditional diocesan celebratory Mass and reception. In lieu of diocesan, in-person celebrations, we are offering all celebrating couples a certificate and letter from Bishop Persico, along with an invitation to next year’s in-person event. In addition, some local parishes have expressed the desire to honor their parishioners. To register for a local celebration or request a certificate, please visit www.eriercd.org/familylifeoffice/anniv.html. Certificates may also be requested by phone at 814-824-1210.
Microsoft Publisher is being retired
Microsoft Publisher will be retired on October 14, 2026—less than 140 days away. After that date, Publisher files won’t open unless you have an older version of the software, and those versions no longer receive security updates, which can put your computer at risk.
Now is an ideal time to review your existing Publisher documents. Delete any files you no longer need and convert those you want to keep for reference into PDF format. For documents that still require editing, choose a tool based on their complexity: simpler layouts can often be recreated in Microsoft Word, while more complex designs are better suited to platforms like Canva, Affinity, or similar design applications.
Taking these steps now will help keep your files secure, accessible, and ready for the future.
Reboot your router monthly
Rebooting your Wi-Fi router is a highly recommended security practice. Federal agencies, including the NSA, urge consumers to restart their routers regularly to disrupt malware residing in the device's memory. U.S. cybersecurity agencies recently disrupted a network of compromised home and small-office routers used by a Russian military intelligence unit. Rebooting your router can disrupt certain types of malware and clear temporary connections that attackers exploit. How to Reboot Your Router: Unplug your router, wait 60 seconds, plug it back in.
