The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Bishop Persico adds Solemn Intercession for peace to the Good Friday Liturgy
With the continued hostilities in Ukraine, the Middle East and other war-ravaged areas, Bishop Persico directs the intercession in the attachments be included in the Good Friday Liturgy.

Invite One Back initiative 
Envisioned as an initiative for the Easter season, the Invite One Back resources are designed to help parish leaders reach out to parishioners who have not returned to Mass since the pandemic. Webinar on the Eucharistic Revival and the Synod
All are welcome to participate in a webinar on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 12:00-1:30 pm ET. Catholics Returning Home
The Epiphany of the Lord Parish in Meadville is conducting a free series of informal listening sessions, titled “Catholics Returning Home,” on six consecutive Wednesday evenings beginning April 3, 2024, at 6:30 pm at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville. The series is an invitation to Catholics who have been away to renew their relationship with the Catholic Church. These listening sessions will be conducted in a support-group format, with updates on the Catholic faith. Former returned Catholics or converts will facilitate the evenings. Everyone is welcome. Holy Spirit Parish, DuBois, offers prayer service for vocations
On Tuesday, April 9, Holy Spirit Parish in DuBois will host Eucharistic adoration along with a special service for vocations from 6 to 7 pm. The event will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 118 S. State Street, DuBois. Father Ben Daghir, parochial vicar at Holy Spirit Parish, will preach on vocations. The service is for the intentions of an increase in vocations as well as to pray for Bishop Lawrence Persico and Father Scott Jabo, vocations director for the Diocese of Erie, as they visit DuBois Central Catholic and host a St. Andrew’s dinner in McGivney Hall on April 10th. The dinner is open to young men in 8th grade and older who are considering the priesthood. Office for Divine Worship monthly newsletter
The Office for Divine Worship presents a monthly newsletter to aid in preparing celebrations that will occur in that particular month. The April newsletter is attached.

Music directors invited to sing for upcoming diocesan liturgies
Corey Spacht, music director at St. Peter Cathedral, Erie, invites all music directors in the Diocese of Erie to participate in two upcoming diocesan liturgies with the Cathedral Choir: The Chrism Mass, Monday, March 25 at 1 pm — choir call at 11:30 am — and the 2024 priestly ordination Mass on Friday, May 24 at 7 pm, with the choir call at 5:30 pm. Faith Formation Grant application deadline is Tuesday, April 2
The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania is accepting applications for its Faith Formation Grant opportunity through April 2. Are you planning a new parish faith formation project or program? Have you realized a need in the past year for increased online or digital resources for faith formation? Catholic parishes and departments of the Diocese of Erie can apply for grants for parish and/or diocesan based Faith Formation projects. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Erie recently sent its yearly Impact Report to donors. The report, found in the attachments, summarizes all the good works they accomplished in 2023.

Benedictines plan 2024 Good Friday Pilgrimage for Peace
Benedictines for Peace is sponsoring the Good Friday Pilgrimage for Peace on Friday, March 29, beginning at 11 am at St. Peter Cathedral, 10th and Sassafras streets in Erie. “Stations of the Cross and the Suffering of War” is the theme of this year’s contemporary stations which will include stops throughout the city of Erie to pray at places “that connect us to or remind us of the sufferings of many living in the horror of war today.” Between stops, participants walk in silence. See the attached flyer for details or view the event on Facebook at https://fb.me/e/gF1N25Ekf.

St. Mark and Mount Calvary parishes host Holy Hour for the Eucharistic Revival

McKean parish hosts Annunciation/eclipse celebration
St. Francis Xavier Parish, 8880 Main St., McKean, invites all to join them in celebration of both the Annunciation and the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. (The Solemnity of the Annunciation will be celebrated liturgically on April 8 because March 25 falls during Holy Week.) The event begins with praying the Office of Readings at 1 pm. Tickets available for St. Mark Seminary Auxiliary annual card party
The St. Mark Seminary Auxiliary will hold its Annual Card Party on Thursday, April 18 at 6 pm in the St. Mark Seminary gym, 429 East Grandview Blvd., Erie. Doors will open at 5 pm. The Diocese of Erie is seeking candidates for the position of director of communications. The director of communications is responsible for managing and directing the necessary resources to evangelize and to enhance understanding and love for Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church in the thirteen counties of Northwestern Pennsylvania. In this position, the director serves the bishop, senior leadership of the Diocese of Erie as well as clergy by providing counsel regarding communication strategies and managing the reputation of the diocese, including parishes and schools, with engaging internal and external communication initiatives.
