Faithful Citizenship: Pray, Discern and Vote
Attached is the Faithful Citizenship: Pray, Discern and Vote flyer/bulletin insert, designed for parishes to share with parishioners in print or electronic formats. This resource encourages prayerful discernment, informed decision-making and participation in the upcoming election. A companion microsite is also available, featuring spreadsheets listing candidates running for office, their party affiliations and links to their campaign websites, where available. Visit the microsite: https://www.eriercd.org/election.html.

Parishes are encouraged to share these resources with parishioners through bulletins, websites, social media and other communication channels in advance of Election Day.

For reference, the following party designations are used in the spreadsheets:

  • REP = Republican Party
  • DEM = Democrat Party
  • IND = Independent Party
  • INT = Independent (this is separate from Independent Party and verified as a separate designation with the DOS)
  • PFP = Progress for Pennsylvania
  • FWI = Forward Independent
  • GRN = Green Party

Diocese of Erie Liturgical Calendar
Attached is the liturgical calendar for the Diocese of Erie as prepared by the Office for Divine Worship. The purpose of the document is to provide all who are involved with liturgies (pastors, deacons, music directors, etc.) with as much information as possible for the celebration of the Sacred Mysteries. It does not replace the Ordo from Paulist Press. It does, however, provide more information for liturgical celebrations in the Diocese of Erie. This is a “living document” that will grow and be refined each year. Any insights, corrections and suggestions are welcome as Liturgical Year 2027 unfolds. Please contact Maripat Grant at 814.824.1271.

Office for Divine Worship monthly newsletter
The Office for Divine Worship presents a monthly newsletter to aid in preparing celebrations that will occur in that particular month. The November newsletter is attached.

2026 Local Needs Collection Toolkit Now Available
The 2026 Local Needs Collection will take place the weekend of Nov.14-15. This annual collection supports local organizations working to address poverty and injustice, empower communities and uphold human dignity. 100% of contributions remain within the Diocese of Erie. A parish resource toolkit is now available to help promote the collection, including pastor and bulletin announcements, graphics and promotional materials. Parishes are encouraged to use these resources to share the importance of this collection with parishioners. Access the toolkit: www.eriercd.org/local-needs.html. Bishop Persico's letter is attached.

Deadline approaching for #iGiveCatholic registration!
Registration is still open for the annual #iGiveCatholic giving day campaign. Parishes, schools, and ministries interested in participating must be registered and approved by Nov. 1! Contact Elizabeth Rathburn of the Catholic Foundation at erathburn@cfnwpa.org or 814-824-1257 with any questions.

Staying Safe online - One weak password can be all it takes
A hacker known as Zestix gained access to more than 50 companies because some users had not enabled multi-factor authentication (MFA). Cybercriminals routinely buy stolen passwords and use automated tools to test them against online accounts. Protect yourself by enabling MFA wherever it's offered, using an authenticator app when possible, and never reusing passwords. Learn more about MFA at: https://www.staysafeonline.org/articles/multi-factor-authentication.
