Bishop Persico announces Weekend of Prayer for Pastoral Planning
The weekend of Nov. 11-12 has been designated by Bishop Persico as a weekend of prayer for Pastoral Planning across the Diocese of Erie. As with every endeavor we undertake, prayer must be at the center of our efforts. By calling the people and clergy of the diocese together to pray with and for each other, it is our hope that the Holy Spirit will permeate our minds and hearts to embrace possibilities never considered and to walk the path of faith without fear. Guidance from the Office for Divine Worship for the weekend is attached. Contact Maripat Grant in the Office for Divine Worship at mgrant@eriercd.org or 814.824.1271 with any questions.

World Mission Month
October is World Mission Month, and World Mission Sunday will be celebrated throughout the diocese on the weekend of Oct. 21-22. World Mission Sunday promotional materials have been mailed to all parishes. World Mission Sunday envelopes are available by request from the Mission Office. The Mission Office is offering support to any parish that would like to hold a special mission celebration on that weekend. Please contact Indira Suarez at isuarez@eriercd.org or 814.824.1231 for more information or ideas for parish celebrations.

2023 World Mission Sunday Collection
Please find attached Bishop Persico’s letter introducing the 2023 collection for World Mission Sunday, to be taken the weekend of Oct. 21-22. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way on the weekend of Oct. 14-15.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month
The IT office at the Diocese of Erie would like to make you aware that October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Week two: Ransomware can make even the most hardened IT professionals shake in their boots. That’s why we need your help to keep malicious people from locking out our network. For Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we’re sharing a short training course that explains the basics of ransomware, the different methods used to infect a machine, and how hackers trick unsuspecting users into downloading infected files. Learn more here: https://www.eriercd.org/ncsm.html.

International Catholic Stewardship Council newsletter
The Catholic Foundation is happy to share the attached October edition of the International Catholic Stewardship Council newsletter (English and Spanish versions are available). Pastors and parish staff are encouraged to read and share this publication with their parishioners, using all or parts of it for their parish bulletin, with credit to the author/source.
