Special instructions regarding public Masses

In light of restrictions announced by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolfe this week, we have made the decision to limit Holy Cross masses to livestream only through January 4.

We strongly encourage all to participate virtually. We will keep those engaged in the livestreamed Mass to the 10-person or less recommended minimum, including presider, accompanist, cantor, lector, server and livestream operator.

Fr. Tom will continue to distribute communion to the homes of those who request it by calling or emailing the church office: secretary@holycrossfairview.org.

In faith, hope and love, members of the Holy Cross Return to Church Task Force write that Advent is a time of waiting in hope. “In the dark, quiet of these days,” they write, “let us remember that we are an Advent people, waiting together for the one who was, who is and who is to come.”

1. All are welcome to worship with us at any time, including Christmas. However, to guarantee a seat in the church at our Christmas Masses (150 maximum capacity), you must sign-up on our website for the desired Mass for a “Cradle Invitation” (aka reservation). Please bring a copy of your sign-up confirmation with you to Mass. You can sign-up for as many seats as you and your family need. Please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early to enjoy the music and décor.

2. Overflow seating will be available in the Parish Center for all Christmas Eve/Day Masses and Holy Communion will be brought to the Parish Center. If we do not hit the 150 capacity limit, people will be invited into the church.

3. If you do not have a computer to sign up, you can do two things:
• Contact Leanne Lazan at 814-866-3533, and your confirmation will be mailed to you.
• Beginning Tuesday, December 1, you can call the church office on Mondays through Thursdays after 1 p.m. so that one of our volunteers can assist you. PLEASE DO NOT CALL BEFORE 1 p.m. ON ANY GIVEN DAY so that our staff can assist you.

4. You can sign-up to the last minute, but that may not guarantee you a spot in the church if we begin to bring people over from the Parish Center. Also, if your plans change and you need to modify your “cradle invitation,” please refer to point 3 so that we can adjust as necessary for others.

5. Remember, ALL ARE WELCOME, BUT PLAN ACCORDINGLY as we ensure everyone that we are following local, state, federal, and diocesan guidelines of masks, social distance, etc. But, again, our Masses are open to parishioners and non-parishioners because Jesus is for everyone!
