The Mission of the Good Friday Collection
The Pontifical Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land (Pro Terra Sancta) is taken up annually in Catholic churches worldwide on Good Friday. This collection is entrusted to the care of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land and supports the church’s mission in the land of Christ’s life, death and resurrection. For centuries, this collection has been a direct connection between Catholics around the world and the Christians who continue to live and witness to the Gospel in the Holy Land.
Funds raised support:
• Parishes and pastoral ministries
• Catholic schools and formation programs
• Care for the poor, migrants and refugees
• Social service and humanitarian works
• Preservation of sacred shrines and Holy Places
• Emergency relief in times of conflict
Why Participate?
By supporting the Good Friday Collection, Catholics stand in solidarity with the Church in Jerusalem and throughout the Holy Land.
This annual collection helps sustain Christian communities, protect sacred sites and bring humanitarian aid to families facing war, economic hardship and displacement. It is a concrete expression of communion, compassion and hope rooted in the mystery of the Cross we venerate on Good Friday.
