Remembering September 11 - 25 Years Later

09/11/2026

A Prayer for September 11

Today, the Diocese of Erie pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families whose lives were forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger and all those who have carried the weight of that day in the years since.

As we mark this solemn 25th anniversary, we invite you to join us in prayer through a special reflection from Gannon University featuring Bishop Lawrence T. Persico, Father Michael Kesicki, university chaplain, seminarian Diego Lara and members of the Gannon University community.

In remembering September 11, we are reminded not only of profound loss, but also of the compassion, courage and unity that emerged in its aftermath. Twenty-five years later, our call remains the same: to pray for peace, to care for one another and to be instruments of Christ’s love in a world that continues to need it.

We invite you to take a few moments today to pause, remember and pray with us.
