The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Notice to Purpose/Confirmation teams and small group leaders for youth
Are you a Purpose/Confirmation team member or small group leader for youth, or are you interested in becoming one in your parish? The Diocese of Erie is hosting a training just for you. It is free and open to parish volunteers working or considering working with middle and high school youth. Join the people from Life Teen and the diocesan Office of Faith Formation on Saturday, April 27 at Holy Redeemer Parish, 11 Russell St., Warren, for a day full of information, fun and fellowship with others doing the same ministry. Mother-Daughter Teas still accepting reservations
Mark your calendars for the annual Mother-Daughter Tea, hosted by the Virtue & Integrity Education Office. The first tea will take place April 21 at St. Mary’s Church, 315 Church St., St. Marys, while the second is April 28 at Saint Mark Catholic Center, 429 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie. This special event is designed for girls ages 10 and above and their moms. Topics to be discussed include the emotional and physical changes of puberty and strengthening the parent-child bond through adolescence. Euthanasia, assisted suicide and ethical end-of-life decisions topic of presentation
Retired neurologist and end-of-life medical ethics expert Dr. John Flamini will speak about compassionate and ethical care at the end of life and the increasing dangers to vulnerable individuals presented by the rise of assisted suicide, euthanasia and related abuses. Sponsored by People for Life, the presentation will be offered tonight, Monday, April 15, at the Admiral Room at the Blasco Memorial Library, 160 E. Front Street, Erie, at 6:30 pm. Dr. Flamini has served on the Bioethics Committee at St. Vincent Hospital and on the Erie Catholic Diocese Moral-Medical Advisory Board.

Waterford parish offers monthly bingo
All Saints Parish, 11264 Rt. 97 N, Waterford, hosts a bingo fundraiser on the third Saturday of each month. All are invited to the next events on April 20, May 18, June 15 and July 20. Doors open at 5:30 pm; games begin at 6:15 pm. Cost is $25 for a 12-card/10 game paper or $20 for a 6-card/ 10 game paper. Special games are $1 each. Food available. St. Mark and Mount Calvary parishes offer Holy Hour

Harvard theologian featured in Gannon Loftus Lecture April 25
The Thomas J. and Mary H. Loftus Lecture on Catholic Thought and Action Speaker Series at Gannon University continues with a free lecture open to the public at 7 pm on Thursday, April 25, at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel, 520 Peach St., Erie. The lecture, “Hinduism and Me: A Catholic Priest’s 50 Years of Hindu Studies,” will feature Francis X. Webinar on the Synod and the Revival has been rescheduled
Bishop Andrew Cozzens and Bishop Daniel Flores will lead a webinar on Wednesday, May 1, from 4 to 5 pm ET, discussing both the work of the Synod and the Eucharistic Revival. Musician/composer Father Manalo, CSP, to speak at Warren parish
Father Ricky Manalo, CSP, composer, teacher and Paulist priest, will bring his dynamic presence to St. Joseph Parish, 600 Pennsylvania Ave. W., Warren, on May 3 and 4. He will offer a free concert on May 3, “Tune, Text and Theology: Encountering Christ through Music,” and play many of his familiar songs such as, The God of All Grace, Many and Great, and Beyond the Days. On Saturday, May 4, from 9 am until noon, Father Manalo will give a presentation entitled “Encounter Christ in the Eucharist.”  All are welcome! Promotional flyer attached.
