The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

In memoriam
Bishop Emeritus Donald W. Trautman is laid to rest today following a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. at St. Peter Cathedral in Erie. A livestream of the event, which is limited to invited guests due to the ongoing renovations at the cathedral, can be found at www.Eriercd.org/bishoptrautman.html. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.

Compensation for women religious
Bishop Lawrence Persico has approved the 2022-23 compensation plan for women religious who serve in the Diocese of Erie. Clergy may see the attachments for the compensation plan, as well as a letter from the bishop.

Benedictine Sisters invite young women to Holy Week, Easter experiences
The Benedictine Sisters of Erie invite young women ages 25 to 45 to join the monastic community for all or part of Holy Week and Easter, April 9-17. Find what you seek through the experience of prayer, community and justice-seeking during these sacred days. High school students invited to apply for Kentucky Mission trip, 50th anniversary
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the diocesan Kentucky Mission trip. All high school students from throughout the Diocese of Erie are invited to apply for the trip, scheduled for June 11-17. If interested, email Father Mike DeMartinis at mike.demartinis@prep-villa.com.

REEF Grant opportunity
The second quarter REEF grant cycle deadline is April 1, 2022. Apply today for funding for your parish. The Religious Education Enrichment Fund (REEF) of the Diocese of Erie has three types of funding opportunities available for individuals, parishes, schools and other diocesan-affiliated entities: 1) Leadership Training for professional education and training; 2) Creative Project for religious formation start-up projects; and 3) Ministry Training for conferences, workshops and non-degree certificate courses. Catholic Foundation Spring Education Grant deadline is March 1
This Friday, March 11, is the deadline for Catholic schools, parishes and diocesan departments to apply for spring education grants. Grant requests up to $20,000 are being accepted. Are your parish lay ministers or lay staff planning to attend a conference, workshop or retreat this summer or fall? Are you planning a new religious education or faith formation project for your parish or Catholic school? Is your school or faith formation program in need of updated technology? Your project may be a good fit for the Foundation’s Education Grant opportunity. Review the attached document outlining guidelines and criteria or go to www.cfnwpa.org/grant-seekers/education-grant-guidelines. This is the first of two Education Grant cycles in 2022. Questions? Estate planning presentation offered
St. Francis Xavier Parish, 8880 W. Main St., McKean, will host a presentation on living wills and estate planning at the church office on March 8 at 4 p.m. Attorney Thomas Hoffman II is the presenter. All are welcome. Soup, Salad and Soul offered at St. George Church
The Soup, Salad and Soul Lenten Program — featuring Mass, a light meal and talks/discussion led by diocesan priests — will be held at St. George Church, 5145 Peach St., Erie, on the following dates: March 8 (Father Michael Ferrick), March 15 (Msgr. Edward Lohse), March 22 (Father John Malthaner), March 29 (Father Christopher Singer), and April 5 (Father Rich Toohey). Mass begins at 5:15 p.m., followed by the meal and discussion in the school cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations are appreciated by emailing Deacon Bob Ball at bball@stgeorgeerie.org. Social distancing will be observed.

Our Lady of Mercy to hold Lenten speaker series
Our Lady of Mercy Parish, 837 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek, will hold a Lenten speaker series March 9, March 23 and March 30. Evenings begin with Mass at 5:30 p.m., and continue with a simple soup supper at 6:10 p.m., concluding with a presentation at 7 p.m. These events are free and open to the public. Legacy Gala planned for March 19
Legacy Gala, the premier fundraising event for Cathedral Prep, Villa Maria Academy and Mother Teresa Academy, will be held on March 19 at Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center. The evening will feature gourmet food stations, a wide array of beverages and a live band. Silent and live auctions also will be included. All are invited to attend. Adoration held St. Francis Xavier, McKean
Come to St. Francis Xavier Parish, 8880 W. Main St., McKean, for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday (except for the first Thursday of each month) from 8 to 9 p.m. in the church. The hour is filled with praise and worship, Scripture readings, silence and the presence of the Lord. Miraculous Medal Shrine offers virtual Lenten reflections
The Miraculous Medal Shrine in Philadelphia will host a series of virtual Lenten reflections on the discipleship of Mary on four consecutive Sundays in March, starting March 6 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Presenters will help participants see the Lenten season in a new light as they prepare their hearts for Easter. Housekeeper needed
St. Teresa of Avila Church in Union City is in need of a part-time housekeeper to perform cleaning and laundry services at the parish rectory and office. This position is approximately 10 hours per week, but additional hours may be available. Hours are preferably on Monday for the rectory and Friday morning for the parish office.
