Scam Alert
Scammers are contacting parish staff and parishioners pretending to be the pastor. These messages often ask for gift cards or money. A bulletin announcement has been prepared for you to share in your parish bulletin:

Scam Alert: Parishioners and staff are receiving fraudulent messages from individuals posing as the pastor, often requesting gift cards or money. These are scams. Do not respond or send money. Always verify any request by calling the parish using the official phone number listed in the bulletin or on the parish website—never a number provided in the message. The Diocese of Erie, its clergy, parishes and schools will not request money or personal information through unsolicited emails, texts or calls. Report suspected scams to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
