As the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the Diocese of Erie joins Catholics across the country in recognizing the enduring role of faith in our nation’s history and life today.

As part of a national initiative from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, dioceses across the country are taking part in a historic moment for the Church: on June 11, 2026, the bishops of the United States will consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Parishes throughout the Diocese of Erie are invited to participate in this shared act of prayer and unity, joining in entrusting our country to the love and mercy of the Sacred Heart.
