The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Four Eucharistic processions planned for June 19
All parishioners are invited to participate in one of four Eucharistic processions scheduled in the Diocese of Erie on Sunday, June 19. Be a part of this national event as we enter into a three-year Eucharistic Revival for the Catholic Church in the United States, renewing devotion and belief in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The processions begin at 1 p.m. at the following locations:

  • St. Peter Cathedral, Erie
  • St. Bernard Church, Bradford
  • St. Catherine of Siena Church, DuBois
  • Notre Dame Church, Hermitage.

The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adoration following the last morning Mass at each site. All processions return to the church to conclude with Benediction. Obligatory memorial June 6
A new memorial was added to the liturgical calendar in 2018: The Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. The Congregation for Divine Worship announced that the memorial will be celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost. This year, the date of the memorial is Monday, June 6. Please note that this is NOT a holy day of obligation. For details on the prayers for Mass and the appropriate readings for the day, please see the attachment. Tribunal offers June newsletter
Attached is the June issue of Marriage Matters from the Tribunal of the Diocese of Erie. 

2022 wedding anniversary celebrations
Diocesan anniversary celebrations for couples celebrating 25, 40, 50, 60 and 60-plus years of marriage in 2022 will be held in two locations in the Diocese of Erie:

  • July 31 at St. Mary Parish, St. Marys, at 2 p.m.
  • Aug. 7 at Holy Cross Parish, Fairview, at 2 p.m.

Couples interested in attending either event or simply receiving a scroll are asked to register, either by going to https://www.eriercd.org/familylifeoffice/anniv.html or filling out a hard copy, which is attached. Parish staff are asked to print out the attached form so that it’s available in parish offices. All completed hard copy forms must be forwarded to the Marriage and Family Life Office of the Diocese of Erie either by mail, email or fax. Mail to St. Mark Catholic Center, C/O Faye Froess, 429 E. Missionary Cooperative Program reminder
Pastors and administrators in the Diocese of Erie are reminded to schedule their missionary group visit to their parish. Visits are to be completed before Oct. 1. Either contact your assigned missionary group directly or reply to messages from the group as soon as possible. St. Francis Xavier to hold all-night adoration for the vigil of Pentecost
St. Francis Xavier Parish in McKean is holding an all-night adoration for the vigil of Pentecost at the church from the conclusion of 5 p.m. Mass on June 4 to 7:45 a.m. on June 5. Committed adorers are needed and may sign up on the parish website at www.stfrancisxaviermckean.org. Just click on “Come Adore Jesus Christ” and then select the time you can be there. Camp Notre Dame announces open house, seeks camp counselors
Pastors will find two letters attached from Camp Notre Dame requesting placement of a bulletin announcement to assist their outreach. The first letter is regarding the Camp Notre Dame open house scheduled for Sunday, June 5; the second provides information about the need for young people (college age and 2022 high school graduates) interested in working as a camp counselor this summer.

Knights to host first golf tournament
The Knights of Columbus Council #17105 of St. Francis Xavier Parish in McKean is hosting its first annual golf tournament at Riverside Golf in Cambridge Springs on June 11. Get a hole-in-one and win a car! Lots of fun, beginning at 8 a.m. See the attachment for all the details.

St. George Parish plans concert featuring Daniel Cabanillas
St. George Parish, 5145 Peach St., Erie, invites everyone to spend a summer evening with Daniel Cabanillas on Thursday, June 30, at 7 p.m. in the church. The event will kick off the parish centennial. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased by calling 814-864-0622, ext. 349, or by stopping by the rectory office.

St. George Parish to mark centennial with Mass and reception
St. George Parish, Erie, will celebrate its 100th anniversary (One Faith, One Family, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow), beginning with Mass offered by Bishop Lawrence Persico on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 4:30 p.m. The event will continue with an adult reception of heavy hors d’oeuvres, music and memories. The cost for the reception is $10 per person, or $15 per couple. Reservations are due by July 6. Please contact St. George at 814-864-0622, ext. 349, to register.

Worship coordinator/keyboard accompanist
The Sisters of the Humility of Mary in Villa Maria, Pennsylvania (located halfway between Youngstown, Ohio, and New Castle), are seeking an experienced worship coordinator with vocal and piano/organ expertise and knowledge of Catholic liturgical services. This position is 20 to 24 hours per week with flexible hours, including availability for weekdays and weekend Masses, holy days, funerals and other special services. Responsibilities include coordinating all worship and liturgical services for the Villa Maria campus and providing inspiration for full participation of members of the Villa community. Bachelor’s degree in music, liturgy, theology, or other relevant degree preferred, along with three years’ experience.
